POSITION PROFILE

Current Global is looking for a Manager, Media Relations for our growing Healthcare practice. The ideal candidate is passionate about healthcare and making a difference in the lives of patients living with various diseases and conditions. S/he will be resourceful with an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong leader with excellent writing and communications skills, and possess an ability to translate client needs into project plans and integrated media strategies. The Manager – Media Relations should have agency or related experience with a background in healthcare communications, including leading digital program elements. The person in this role will help develop and implement engagement campaigns for a variety of healthcare clients, including pharmaceutical and medtech companies, hospitals and health systems.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Translate communications strategy into relevant, timely and engaging story narratives.
  • Contribute to multi-platform communications plans that leverage the most effective players and personalities across traditional and social media to meet client objectives.
  • Keep a pulse on the evolving media landscape, news cycle and trends to ensure we’re inserting client narratives in targeted, culturally relevant and insightful ways across platforms.
  • Proactively identify media themes that could impact a client’s reputation.
  • Represent the agency and clients with journalists to illicit positive, productive and purposeful coverage.
  • Generate key messaging and story narratives (pitches, alerts, releases, social content, etc.) to positively position clients and educate media on the client’s point of view.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of client business objectives and proactively suggest ideas and programs to meet those objectives.
  • Contribute to the career growth of junior team members, serving as mentor and role model.
  • Set and meet campaign measurement and evaluation criteria.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-6 years of experience in PR (agency or corporate in-house) or media property.
  • Journalistic instincts and skills in uncovering and developing stories.
  • Trusted, personal relationships with influential media and journalists.
  • Experience with clients and accounts that are measurement and evaluation driven.
  • Strong decision-making and project management skills.
  • Confident writer, presenter and persuasive speaker.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial and endlessly curious.
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree.
