The role:

  • As the manager of the Network Engineering team, you'll ensure the quality of incident management and be proactive by reducing future issues. You will use the information gathered to educate and inform the engineering organization about patterns and behaviors that lead to more reliable and available systems.
  • This role needs an experienced engineering leader with excellent cross-functional and communication skills. You'll be leading and supported by a world-class group of senior engineers with backgrounds in operations, software development, systems performance and resilience engineering. Together you'll focus on the quality of experience for our customers.

What you’ll do:Ā 

  • Lead a team of Software/Systems Network Engineers on projects used and enjoyed by users worldwide
  • Own availability and performance of mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence; automate response to all non-exceptional service conditions.
  • Lead by example, care for the team and establish credibility with the quality of the team's technical execution.
  • Manage on-call rotations
  • Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Galileo's services.
  • Work with cutting edge technology in the cloud to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for build, deploy, code coverage. Ability to Install, configure, update and troubleshoot cloud Microservices
  • Grow and mentor a team of engineers, building their talents by exposing them to new challenges and experience.
  • Participate in deep technical design discussions within your team, and across partner teams, and ensure that we're building the right systems and keeping the quality high.

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years of combined experience with both software development and Networks Administration/operations
  • 5+ years leading teams with responsibility for Site Reliability functions of scalable software platforms, with emphasis on a software-driven approach to operations and management
  • Strong experience building, analyzing and troubleshooting scalable distributed systems
  • Expertise building and deploying software using cloud services, Cloud Foundry and AWS platform including VPCs, ECS/EKS, etc.
  • Expertise with Docker, Kubernetes (or other orchestration tools), and Jenkins
  • Have experience leading a team through a DevOps or SRE transformation, and experience designing, implementing, and tracking SLOs and SLIs.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline configuration, deployment, and support
  • Experience leading cross-organizational efforts with different teams to diagnose operational surprises and carry forward improvements

Pay range: $198,000-$247,500
Payment frequency:Ā Annual
