About The Position

The Manager- Network Engineering -Operations Technology (OT) is responsible for the leadership and direction of the Network Engineering function that supports Ameren's energy delivery business lines for Smart Grid and Operations Technology. Primary responsibilities include the design and implementation of business line OT communication projects in a safe and reliable fashion. The Operations Technology engineering function is responsible for design and implementation of Ameren's communication systems providing services for Smart Grid, FAN, LAN, WAN, long haul fiber optic, microwave systems, and Land Based Mobile Radio System.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide direct leadership of over Ameren professionals including Engineers and Contractors for the design and implementation of Ameren's OT communication network.
  • Provide leadership to ensure the successful and timely design and delivery of all OT network projects
  • Provide overall project leadership to ensure project budgets and schedules are met.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in the creation and revision of design standards and equipment specifications to ensure that OT projects will be built safely and efficiently
  • Provide technical guidance and design support for OT engineers for the efficient and effective project delivery of Smart Grid and other OT communication projects.
  • Define and assist with acquiring or training resources for successful delivery of OT network projects
  • Work with peer operational departments within Ameren for the proactive planning, coordination, implementation, and support of Smart Grid and OT communication networks and supported utility applications.
  • Provide Quality Assurance (QA) and review of OT network project implementation
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to deliver a best-in-class mobile workforce for the support of advanced Smart Grid and other OT communications networking.
  • Keeps abreast of industry developments and improvements in communications networking related to utility communication system design.
  • Provides Cyber security guidance, protection of network assets, and continuous cyber improvement awareness.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or equivalent computer or applicable business related major.

Experience: Five or more years of experience in telecommunication work is required, preferably in the electric utility industry. Experience in one or more of the following areas, fiber optics transmission, microwave transmission, wireless LTE/5G, private wireless, private mobile radio, or SCADA communications is preferred. Previous people or project leadership experience is preferred.

Other: Works normal business hours in an office environment, but may also need to work off-hours for project needs, support/upgrade/outage reasons, and systems implementations. After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for additional selection procedures (e.g., interview) designated for this position. Some travel within Ameren's Service Territory may be required.
