We are currently seeking a manager to guide our Standards team. Our preferred candidate will be a forward-leaning leader who holds excellent communication, facilitation, and people skills. The individual in this position will develop a team to maintain process, technical and application standards as well as equipment specifications for both AES Indiana and AES Ohio.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Serve as a champion for process development, documentation, and revision across multiple AES businesses
  • Lead the strategic development the Standards team transformation plan that will effectively develop and build new Standard processes and tools in alignment with AES strategic initiatives.
  • Lead internal and external teams in solving complex issues requiring technical expertise, project management, and leadership skills
  • Lead the creation of new standards to design, construct, and maintain a quality system while continuously striving for growth and excellence
  • Lead the development and maintenance of construction specifications. Review existing technical standards and recommend changes to standards where required
  • Research, prepare, and maintain application and construction standards for substation, transmission, and distribution assets
  • Responsible for leading and supporting root-cause analyses and investigation of equipment failures and personnel safety incidents
  • Serve as the lead technical point of contact and subject matter expert to guide and collaborate with other departments
  • Lead cross functional teams for the development and implementation of new and existing standards
  • Engage with the industry standard committees and working groups (e.g., IEEE Standards, ANSI Standards, NESC) and represent AES's interests
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the AES Standards repository
  • Prepare and provide training sessions to production and field engineers, designers, and other personnel

Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education

  • BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in a technical role in a process heavy industry
  • Experience in electric distribution, transmission, or substation engineering in a utility focused environment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and ability to apply National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Electric Code (NEC), and relevant IEEE/IEC Standards.
  • Skills to use relevant design and simulation software, such as
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to effectively supervise and direct the work of assigned personnel, external employees, and the ability to effectively and professionally deal with coworkers and customers is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Job location is in either Dayton, OH or Indianapolis, IN - Travel between both locations will be required
