Manager of A/P
Job Description
As an AP Manager, you will play an integral part in overseeing the daily operations of two Account Payable teams and ensure the payable process is running smoothly.
As part of the Accounts Payable department, you will manage 2 Supervisors and 11 Accounts Payable Coordinators, and supervise the entire accounts payable process. Major responsibilities include accurate processing of vendor payments, process improvement, system implementations, cultivating cross-departmental relationships, and building relationships with external vendors. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and goal oriented, and have a continuous improvement mindset.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Accounts Payable department in a professional and knowledgeable manner
- Ensure vendor payments are processed accurately each day
- Implement process improvement and task automation
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex payment and vendor issues
- Partner with AP Analyst to create new, and improve existing, department reporting
- Work with internal business unit partners to align and achieve goals
- Act as an escalation point for internal and external vendors
- Establish department metrics that align with department standards and company goals
- Monitor team productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
- Assist in hiring and training new employees
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training or experience
- Minimum of 6+ years of high-volume A/P experience
- Minimum 2+ years of management experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong ability for personal interaction
- Demonstrate leadership and decision making ability
- Proven take charge performer who is effective at multi-tasking
- Dependable and accountable
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
- Displays a positive attitude and supports department initiatives of Communication, Advocacy and Resolution
- Flexible to evolve as department and company initiatives change
- Intermediate or higher level skill with Microsoft Office Products, Excel in particular
- Experience using Great Plains accounting software is a plus
