Overview:

ASA is seeking talented data professionals as it expands its digital transformation and develops strategic analytical initiatives. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Strategic Research & Data Analytics, the Manager/Senior Manager of Data Analytics will be an indispensable, creative and collaborative member of ASA's Strategic Insights & Program Outcomes group, working with other business units to drive measurement, analytics and visualization projects for strategy and innovation initiatives, product development and optimization, marketing and operations effectiveness, and digital product outcomes measurement and reporting.

Detailed Description:

As ASA expands its digital transformation to drive its mission of creating resources and solutions for teenagers' exploring their options for post-High School planning, it is seeking passionate and talented data analysts and engineers. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Strategic Research & Data Analytics, the Manager/Senior Manager of Data Analytics will oversee a team of analysts responsible for designing and managing data analytic projects, reports, dashboards and other tools for strategy and innovation initiatives, product development and optimization insights, marketing and operations effectiveness, and product performance measurement and reporting.

The Manager/Senior Manager of Data Analytics's responsibilities are to:

  • Provide a clear, strategic analytic vision that enables effective decision-making towards the achievement of our business partners' goals with respect to digital product optimization, digital marketing effectiveness, partner performance indicators, and impact measurement at a digital product and portfolio level
  • Oversee data analytics operations by working closely with the Senior Director of Strategic Research & Data Analytics and key business partners to align on and develop a data-driven analytic solutions and insights that support critical business needs in a timely, high-quality, high-value practice
  • Work closely with data engineers and analysts in the management and mining of large sets of first-, second-, and third-party data to drive insights, activation, measurement, and attribution
  • Manage and develop a team of data analysts on new and existing analytic projects, tools and techniques that support critical business needs
  • Serve as an expert on digital analytics including web and mobile product/site analytics, marketing effectiveness and attribution across digital channels, digital user journey analytics, etc.
  • Ensure best practices are being implemented, managed and continually improved with respect to data governance and management, rigor of quality control and data health management, etc.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the data analytics portfolio of data-driven strategic, product and marketing insights across the customer journey and marketing touchpoints by looking end-to-end across our data ecosystem, enabling new capabilities, & managing ongoing operations
  • Direct a team of analysts that helps define, build, and optimize the connected data portfolio in support of multiple teams, including digital product, marketing, partnerships and strategy
  • Develop, validate, monitor, and improve analytics and advanced modeling initiatives used to determine operational effectiveness, program outcomes, targeting initiatives and customer analysis to support insights development and strategic initiatives
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications; establish and define details, definitions, and requirements of applications, components, and enhancements
  • Explore, find, and strategize new uses from multiple, existing data sources to gain maximum insight
  • Engage with data engineers to oversee the implementation and maintenance of data pipelines and automated processes to enhance or create new data sets for use in analyzing trends and patterns, and production of custom reports and dashboards
  • Identify opportunities to collect and supplement analysis with external data, data partnerships, etc.
  • Present and communicate data findings, i.e., discover "stories" hidden in the data to Insights & Outcomes and other business leaders to help the organization understand operational outcomes performance, challenges, goals and provide recommendations on use of this information
  • Maintain awareness of evolving analytical techniques, software and data sources to bring innovative approaches into the organization that drives higher quality results
  • Contribute towards a robust best practices and governance program with respect to data discoverability, observability, lineage, stewardship and security strategies for protecting sensitive information and content
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business intelligence, data analytics, data engineering or equivalent experience,
  • 7+ years of experience in data analysis, business analytics, business intelligence or data analysis or related roles with being a key point of contact for one or more concurrent business partner relationships
  • 3+ years of experience leading a team of data analysts or providing leadership or mentorship to other analysts that fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing and high-quality expectations
  • Strong expertise in business intelligence, data visualization, and dashboarding platforms (Tableau preferred), core analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, R, Python
  • Strong knowledge of data management and modern data warehouse (Snowflake, Big Query) and ELT data acquisition/model building tools (Fivetran)
  • Experience with digital and web analytics including Google Analytics, and digital direct marketing insights, activation and measurement is strongly preferred
  • Experience in dimensional data modeling and schema design, statistics and predictive modeling
  • Experience working with agile development methodologies such as Sprint and Scrum
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to relate them to the services the company is providing
  • Ability to think and research creatively and possesses strong exploratory analysis and problem-solving skills, and is detail-oriented
  • Extensive knowledge of industry best practices
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to bridge the gap between data and business by translating data results into strategic recommendations
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; ability to take the initiative to accomplish tough tasks and identify alternative solutions
  • Able to use deep breadth of analytics and market knowledge to guide strategy decisions by brand directors and provide support for those decisions in discussions with senior executives
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications required; including SSRS reporting tool
  • Must provide examples of output related to described skill
