Job Description

Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Director for Strategic Communications, the Manager for Digital Engagement will serve an essential role in strengthening LatinoJustice PRLDEF’s digital and online presence and audiences and building the organization’s brand identity as one of the country’s premier Latino/Latinx civil rights champions.

The Manager for Digital Engagement will help drive digital engagement strategy that advances broader organizational goals and supports programs and resource development. The Manager will work with the team to develop and execute a plan to expand LJP’s social media presence, followers and engagement through strategic management of its platforms, community engagement and creative content. The Manager will produce content for and execute digital campaigns across the organization’s digital and social channels, working in close collaboration with team members in Communications, Development and programs, to build awareness and understanding of our work and our issues with existing supporters, stakeholders and allies, and the general public, as well as to cultivate new audiences.

The Manager must understand how to connect and engage with influencers, activists and other stakeholders in LJP’s various areas of work, and lead within the organization across teams to seek out and capitalize on digital opportunities to advance LJP’s work. The ideal candidate will be a sharp writer and analytical thinker with a strong sense of the expressive and visual vocabularies optimal for digital and online communication, and a solid understanding of existing and evolving tools and practices in the digital and online realms. This position does not entail any supervisory duties.

DUTIES

  •  Planning and execution of digital strategy to increase the organization’s visibility and influence through digital tools and channels including, but not limited to, social media and our website.
  •  Manage the organization’s social platforms, including creating and curating content.
  •  Create and maintain a social media and digital calendar to maximize activity and engagement in LJP’s channels and nurture existing and new audiences.
  •  Work closely and collaboratively with Senior Director for Strategic Communications and other Communications staff to develop strategies and plans that adhere to and promote organizational goals and messaging.
  •  Work with program, Advocacy and Development teams to advise and execute on digital strategy, ads and marketing, and create digital/online plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Engage LatinoJustice PRLDEF teammates to amplify our content and use best practices to participate effectively in digital and online spaces.
  •  Develop and implement systems to collect data, track, evaluate, and report on progress and success of digital efforts.
  •  Identify trends and insights that can guide work, as well as opportunities to position the organization and the staff as thought leaders in areas that touch on LJP’s work.
  • Adhere to department policies, procedures, and style guides.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5 years social media/digital engagement working experience, including social accounts management, in advocacy or non-profit organizations.
  •  Experience creating content for use in digital/online channels, including social media toolkits, graphics and assets, newsletters, and other promotional and programmatic materials as needed.
  • Demonstrated success in growing audience engagement and impact through social and email/text campaigns.
  • Demonstrated success in running social ad campaigns.
  • Experience in and comfort with rapid response.
  •  Ability to think critically, manage multiple projects, and exhibit leadership in areas of expertise.
  •  Positive attitude, high energy, and an eagerness to learn.
  •  Outstanding planning and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail and ability to drive work independently as needed.
  •  Proficiency in function of social platforms, best practices in the field, social listening, as well as trends relevant for non-profit and advocacy spaces.
  • Strong writing skills, geared toward optimizing communication in social/online channels.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  •  Bilingual, Spanish & English, proficiency strongly preferred.
  • Marketing and communications background preferred.

OTHER DESIRED TRAITS

• Reliable, creative, self-motivated, able to take initiative and work well in teams or individually.

• Knowledgeable about the current digital landscape and trends. Active on various digital and social media platforms a plus.

• Familiarity with subject areas related to LJP’s mission and goals and commitment to civil rights and the mission of the organization, strongly preferred.

• Proficiency in graphic design strongly preferred, including familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.

• Familiarity with video production a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and starts at $66,000.00. LJP offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes health, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, and a voluntary 403(b) retirement plan, as well as generous paid time off benefits. This is a union position.
