We are looking for a dynamic leader to join our team as a Manager of Engineering in Madison, WI. This position will be responsible for providing cost effective and customer focused gas engineering, electric distribution engineering, and delivery system planning services. This includes providing functional electric distribution and gas pipeline engineering expertise and support throughout Wisconsin along with coordinating gas pipeline and electric distribution planning activities. This position will work with multiple areas to develop and implement asset replacement strategies, reliability strategies, budget forecast, and long-range system plans.

Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and implementing an operating plan for the distribution engineering organization. This includes the vision, mission, guiding principles, goals, strategies, budget, action plans, and performance measurements required to ensure cost effective electric and gas asset planning that is in line with corporate goals.
- Consults with various business unit representatives to identify process improvement opportunities and promote a service partnership linkage to support their needs. Works with regional customer operations directors to establish goals to ensure the distribution engineering organization is meeting the needs of the field organization.
- Develops and coordinates the implementation of cost-effective electric and gas system policies and practices to support operating business unit processes. Develops and executes overall plan to assess and manage aging distribution infrastructure.
- Provides functional leadership between field operating personnel, customer representatives and general office departments to ensure alignment with strategic plan. Interface with business unit representatives on cross-functional project teams.
- Responsible for the analysis of electric and gas distribution delivery systems to identify and resolve system performance problems.
- Work with state and/or federal regulators to help ensure that strategic goals are reached in the development of codes, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Evaluates workload and makes decisions concerning overall placement of engineering resources.
- Performs all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, discipline, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching & counseling, models Alliant Energy's Core Values at all times.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in engineering or related area Preferred
- Certification PE designation Preferred
Required Experience
- 5 years of related experience
- 3 years supervisory experience or equivalent. (Equivalent supervisory experiences may include project management, providing work direction, leadership experience through temporary assignments, roles in the community or external organizations, or other demonstrated leadership experience.)

- This job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety rules and applicable electric codes (National Electrical Safety Code Standards and National Electrical Code), DOT regulations, PHMSA regulations preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electric and gas utility system engineering, operations, maintenance, and construction practices preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and carry-out engineering efforts and perform multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills.
- Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
- Works in a diverse and inclusive environment.
