We are looking for a technical, execution-minded leader for the Machine Learning team. The Manager of Machine Learning is responsible for leading our team of data scientists and ML engineers. This team is primarily responsible for creating new data products from the billions of financial transactions at Apex. These products range from fraud detection algorithms to applying LLMs models to improve operational efficiency.
You will report to and work closely with the Director of Data Science responsible for this initiative, and work alongside product managers, business stakeholders and engineering teams across the organization.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Create an environment for data scientists to explore new ideas and build industry-leading models
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models, algorithms, and related products/services
• Work and communicate with stakeholders across Apex to identify key business problems and opportunities.
• Hire, develop, and lead a collaborative and high-performing team.
• Follow and communicate the latest advancements in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and related fields to keep our practices and technologies at the cutting edge.
• Manage the end-to-end machine learning project lifecycle, from problem definition and data collection to model deployment and performance monitoring and client feedback loop.
• Foster an environment of continuous learning and development within the team.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring:
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like data science, statistics, math, physics, or engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience
• Masters or PHD in a quantitative field is preferred
• 5+ years building ML solutions using Spark, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar
• 5+ Python and SQL experience
• 3+ years managing people in digital or technology-focused companies
• Experience managing teams developing and launching data products using cloud technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Proven track record of leading functional groups, defining, documenting, delivering and measuring value
• Demonstrated ability to achieve strategic goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment with uncertain variables
• Familiarity with Agile methods and SaaS deployments
