Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of Network Engineering is responsible for overseeing the organization's networking and telecommunications infrastructure. The role involves developing and implementing strategies for the maintenance, support, and enhancement of the network and telecommunications systems to ensure optimal performance and functionality. The Manager of Network Engineering will collaborate with other technology teams and business units to ensure that the organization's communication needs are met efficiently and effectively. The role involves developing and implementing network security protocols to safeguard data and systems from external threats. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for developing and implementing disaster recovery plans in the event of network and telecommunications failures.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Manage the organization's telecommunications and networking infrastructure.
- Develop and implement strategies for the maintenance, support, and enhancement of network and telecommunications systems.
- Collaborate with other technology teams and business units to ensure that communication needs are met efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and implement network security protocols to safeguard data and systems from external threats.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans in the event of network and telecommunications failures.
- Manage and lead a team of network and telecommunications professionals to ensure the efficient operation of the organization's network and telecommunications systems.
- Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for improvements to the network and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Develop and continuously review procedures for network and telecommunications administration.
- Oversee the IT planning for the design and construction projects including department moves.
- Set priorities and managing resources to achieve unit, division, and corporate goals.
- Recommend/select specific products as necessary, participating in tool and vendor evaluations.
- Review and assign service desk tickets and requests, following up and providing status updates to clients.
- Participate in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the infrastructure and enterprise systems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- None
EXPERIENCE:
- 8 to 10 years of related experience in infrastructure/network environments performing network engineering (hardware and software), and designing, planning, and implementing LANs and WANs using the latest technology; including 2 or more years lead/management experience.
- Demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations from a business perspective.
- A proven track record of managing projects through all life-cycle phases in accordance with established direction and standards
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong technical knowledge of networking and telecommunications technologies, protocols, and systems.
- Excellent leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with other technology teams and business units to achieve common goals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Experience with network security protocols and disaster recovery planning.
