Job Summary:

This position will build, train, and mentor the Pricing and Procurement Teams for Cardinal Logistics. This team will be split into two different primary segments. The Pricing Team will be responsible for overseeing and developing an analytical process to approach corporate pricing both at the tactical level and at the strategic level. This team will work to support both Branch Leadership and Agents equally in the pursuit of new business for the organization. The Procurement Team will be responsible for developing carrier relationships to support the entire enterprise, both Branch and Agent alike for ongoing and dedicated business opportunities. The Manager of Pricing and Procurement will oversee both teams and work to ensure that the front line field is obtaining the support they require to be able to successfully grow their business and have success. This role will report directly to the Director of Enterprise Solutions.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Pricing Team:
    • Manage, complete, and respond to RFPs in accordance with assigned due dates or service level agreements for new and existing customers in a specific mode, product, or trade lane.
    • Collaborate with all levels of the organization to identify best practices for continuous improvement of our client’s network and pricing quality, leading to more favorable win ratios.
    • Make strategic recommendations to leadership to strengthen network optimization.
    • Understand, utilize and constantly optimize the various pricing and asset optimization tools available.
    • Assess data from a variety of sources and use it to derive insights while generating pricing strategies and future trends.
    • Ensure compliance with customer operational policies prior to pricing business.
    • Understand and optimize modal yield strategy & modal assessorial fees.
    • Develop relationships with existing suppliers while finding new suppliers who can meet our client’s needs more effectively and efficiently.
    • Use a variety of statistical modeling methods to prepare reports displaying potential impact of pricing or asset utilization strategies, including their effect on margins, costs, and sales outcomes.
    • Analyze load level and complex data to drive accurate cost allocation for Asset-Lite Division.
    • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
  • Procurement Team:
    • Manager, train, and develop a team of Procurement Executives who will be responsible to developing Carrier Relationships and strategic capacity to support Branches, Dedicated Fleet, and the Agent program.
    • Ensure that all Carrier data is being captured for permanent use and leverage for current and future opportunities.
    • Actively meet with Carriers via phone, video, or in person to foster relationships and develop strategic partnerships.
    • Actively push capacity into the field for Sales Reps and Branches to find new opportunities and win more business.
    • Serve as a carrier advocate within Cardinal Logistics and work to create carrier incentive programs to drive a higher degree of carrier loyalty.

 

 

Other Requirements:

  • Reports to Director of Enterprise Solutions
  • 4-10  years progressive operations, pricing, and procurement roles in the non-asset brokerage space
  • Four year degree required
  • Self-starter, growth minded and entrepreneurial
  • P&L focused
