Our all-in-one portfolio accounting and practice management platform, Morningstar Office supports RIA's day-to-day activities with our billing, performance reporting, back-office services, rebalancing, and account aggregation capabilities, powered by Morningstar's independent data and research.
As a Manager of QA Engineering, you will partner with product management, software engineering, and QA engineering leaders in the Wealth Management Solutions organization to drive quality assurance engineering excellence for this organization. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter with minimum of 7 years of experience working in software development and who understands business goals to create scalable, flexible technical testing frameworks that evaluate the product's ability to meet these goals. This role will provide technical direction and oversight of test automation and ensure modern software testing practices are being applied with rigor equally and consistently across the products and functional teams. We look for candidate who possesses the ability to motivate the team and to cultivate a culture of high energy to help achieving software engineering excellence. Exposure and contribution to software quality assurance community and various automation testing frameworks. This position is based out of our Toronto office.
Job Responsibilities

• Manages, supervises, and mentors QA Team members in offshore locations
• Works closely with product development team members in North America, Europe, and Asia
• Works closely with test automation team for best test automation strategies
• Promotes best QA practices amongst the testing team members
• Focuses on continuous quality and process improvements
• Acts as the guardian of Software Quality by owning functional and non-functional requirements, architectural direction for testability, setting quality standards, assessing quality risks, and ensuring minimal technical debt
• Acts as a practice manager by supervising the QA team members to follow strict quality assurance principles and use various and appropriate testing strategies throughout the software development cycle
• Directs, plans, and oversees automation team to plan and implement automation requirements and ensures the creation of quality automation test strategies for functional and non-functional testing
• Prepares quality metrics documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends in software development and production
• Performs risk assessment on application and product quality upon release and/or when needed
• Coordinates with product managers, project managers, technical managers, Network/IT and Operations
• Attends and conducts testing technical training across various teams
• Advocates and drives for both process quality as well as product quality with all stakeholders of the product development teams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software QA leadership and management experience
• Minimum 7+ years of solid knowledge and working experience of software quality assurance principles and methodologies
• Knowledge and experience of TMMi and managing testing team productivity
• Knowledge or exposure to testing strategy planning around cloud computing and risk-based security testing
• Have comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience of SDLC
• Able to demonstrate prior experience with quantitative skills and software quality metrics
• Prior experience with performance and load testing is required
• Experience with Agile development is required
• Ability to manage and mentor test team members in multiple offshore location
• Strong leadership capabilities and a passion for software quality
• Experience with IT industry standard tools for defect tracking, test case management, automation, source code control, and various website tracking and monitoring tools.
• Development experience with Java or .net is preferred
• Minimum of bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Financial and investing knowledge is a plus
• Experience managing multiple teams of various sizes in different geographies is a plus
