Manager of Quality Engineering

This role is responsible for defining and driving the overall quality engineering strategy across a modern enterprise SaaS product organization. You will lead efforts to elevate software quality standards, strengthen test automation maturity, and ensure reliable, high-quality releases in a fast-paced agile environment. Acting as both a technical leader and strategic partner, you will oversee a small QA team while collaborating closely with product engineering, customer service, and operations. The position plays a critical role in shaping release readiness, production sign-off processes, and continuous improvement of QA practices. You will also champion innovation in testing, including automation and AI-assisted quality tools, to keep pace with evolving software delivery practices. This is a fully remote role within the United States, offering both technical depth and leadership impact in a growing SaaS organization.

In this role, you will lead quality engineering strategy and execution, ensuring robust testing practices, strong automation coverage, and reliable production releases.

• Define and implement enterprise-wide quality engineering standards, ensuring consistency across product engineering teams
• Establish and track key quality metrics such as defect escape rate, test coverage, and automation effectiveness
• Lead the development and evolution of test automation strategies, including evaluation of tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Katalon
• Drive innovation in QA practices, including adoption of AI-assisted testing and modernization of automation workflows
• Oversee functional, regression, and performance testing efforts across the SaaS platform
• Own release readiness criteria and serve as the final approver for production deployments
• Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to manage production issues, triage defects, and ensure timely resolution
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small QA team, including performance management and career development planning
• Ensure strong traceability across requirements, test cases, and defects, supporting structured UAT and release validation

Requirements:

This role requires deep experience in software quality engineering, strong leadership capability, and hands-on expertise with modern automation and SaaS testing practices.

• 7+ years of experience in software QA, test engineering, or related quality roles
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership or people management role within a QA or engineering team
• Proven experience leading QA efforts for enterprise SaaS products in agile environments
• Strong hands-on knowledge of test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or Katalon
• Experience defining quality standards, release criteria, and production sign-off processes
• Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools and a mindset focused on innovation and continuous improvement
• Strong understanding of functional, regression, and performance testing methodologies
• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Preferred: experience with low-code or highly configurable SaaS platforms and scalable QA organizations

• Annual base salary range of $140,000 – $160,000 USD
