The Manager of Quantitative Analysis is responsible for leading, conducting, supervising, and/or reviewing model validations performed on internal and vendor models; ensuring that validations are consistent with the bank's model risk management policy, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Validate models and/or supervise external model validators.
• Monitor new model development and implementation.
• Prioritize and schedule model validations.
• Ensure that model deficiencies are remediated by model owners as scheduled.
• Present model validation findings to the Model Risk Management Committee.
• Conduct research into alternative models to facilitate benchmarking and effective challenge to existing models.
• Maintain and enhance comprehensive model validation procedures.
• Lead automation initiatives.
• Manage direct report(s).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
• Experience in model validation and/or model development.
• Experience working with a variety of model types, such as credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, operational risk, ALM, stress testing, and valuation models.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to explain complex technical topics to a non-technical audience.
• Strong analytical skills both qualitative and quantitative.
• Familiarity with regulatory guidance on model risk management.
• Knowledge of ALLL process and CECL is a plus.
• Proficiency in programming languages, such as R, SAS and/or Python.
Industry and Work Experience:
• Minimum of six years of model validation and/or development experience in the banking or consulting industry.
Academic:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in quantitative disciple, such as economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, or financial engineering required.
• Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline preferred.
• FRM certification preferred
