About the Role
Workday is seeking a Manager, Accounting who wants to make their mark on a growing organization. The candidate should be a self-starter, a great communicator, and enjoys collaborating with people with a diverse set of talents, in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of accountants
- Approve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes related to various global expense accruals, intercompany, and re-classing entries
- Empower and support accountants through problem solving and decision-making on ad-hoc and abnormal situations that arise in day-to-day activities
- Provide balance sheet flux analysis commentary to support Corporate Accounting preparation of CFO financial review
- Handle the onboarding and change management accounting advice and accruals review with cross-functional teams to ensure proper expense recognition to GAAP
- Lead team of accountants through annual payroll support requests related to tax returns and statutory audits for all payroll jurisdictions
- Work closely with business partners to streamline processes and improve efficiency using the Workday product suite
- Maintain continuous mentality for process efficiency and partner with IT to facilitate those improvements
- Maintain accurate performance of key SOX controls and business processes
- Provide assistance in drafting accounting policies and memos
- Lead special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests within defined budget, often with cross functional teams
- Influence organization strategy, including methods, costs, and staffing requirements
- Develop and mentor accounting staff to build their careers and enhance potential by providing relevant feedback, looking for and associating them with growth opportunities, and helping them establish key relationships
About You
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years accounting experience
- People Leadership experience (preferably in a managerial role)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related area (Master's or CPA a plus)
Other Qualifications
- Accounting experience with a publicly traded company preferred
- Payroll Tax, Expat, and/or Stock Compensation accounting experience preferred
- A highly productive self-starter with very strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
- Strong accountability and detail oriented
- Ability to thrive independently and also be a standout colleague
- Strong interpersonal, communication and messaging skills
- Ability to adapt to the rapid business and organizational changes that accompany a high-growth environment
- Experience with tight deadlines and timeliness for work performed
- Sophisticated skills in Excel and experience using Workday
