Job Description

Manager of Payer Accounts is responsible for managing the success of the team responsible for building relationship with an assigned set of payers and PBM's, to achieve the goals and objectives identified by the customer and Cardinal Health/Outcomes. This role is responsible for long-term relationship building between the customer, Cardinal Health/Outcomes, and other professional organizations. The complexity of the solution, product, or services offered is variable and can range from simple to moderately complex. Supports products and services that help facilitate patient care predominately through optimizing multi-channel patient engagement and population health solutions on behalf of payers and PBM's.

Accountabilities:

  • Leads a team of national account consultants, focused on payers and PBM's.
  • Builds a team that fosters strong, productive customer partnerships focused on ensuring customer success and retention; develops a trusted advisor relationship with key stakeholders and executive sponsors.
  • Meets or exceeds assigned goals by maintaining growth within the existing customer base.
  • Ensuring client retention and client satisfaction with the relation and the performance of the products offered.
  • Analyzes customer data, both inside and outside of program, to maximize vendor penetration and compliance, drive savings, and identify account growth opportunities.
  • Partners with customer to implement best practices and value add offerings.
  • Prepares and delivers effective presentations, focusing on concise, actionable information that is readily embraced by the customer and drives additional volume to Outcomes solutions and services.
  • Collaborates with Outcomes and Cardinal Health business units to identify new opportunities within existing accounts to increase revenue streams.
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Stays abreast of the changing healthcare landscape, Pharma, Pharmacy, Payer, Providers innovations, and industry trends to maintain a deep understanding of the customer experience.
  • Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel and teams.
  • Responsible for team development of payer account plans and pharma account plans and key intelligence topics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors required, and Advanced degree preferred, in related field or equivalent work experience may be required
  • PharmD or RPh with valid pharmacist licensure in any US state preferred but not required
  • Experience working with or within a payer/PBM required
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of pharmacy
  • 3+ years of leadership experience required
  • Prior account management experience preferred
  • Experience in a customer facing role, ability to develop and maintain relationships
  • Microsoft Excel and Power Point proficiency desired
  • Executive presence and leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills & ability to communicate and interact with all levels of a customer, including c-suite
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Valid driver's license

What is expected of you and others at this level:

  • Oversee the day to day development, relationship building, and performance of the account management team.
  • Contributes to the development of policies and procedures
  • May work on complex projects of large scope
  • Able to identify opportunities to partner with payer/PBM clients in new and innovative capacities
  • Ability and experience managing large payer/PBM clients, including managing difficult conversations and negotiations
  • Performs reviews with team to ensure objectives of organization are being met
  • May act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
  • Provides leadership to staff may also manage supervisors
  • Assists in the development of functional strategy in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Assists with decisions that may have an extended impact on work processes, outcomes, and customers
  • Interacts with internal and/or external leaders, including senior management
  • Persuades others into agreement in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships

Anticipated salary range: $120,000 - $160,000

Bonus eligible: Yes, Annual Bonus
