The Fraud Risk Strategy and Policy team’s mission is to promote risk optimized growth and provide a trusted and delightful experience for our customers. Our team focuses on Identifying, analyzing, assessing emerging and evolving fraud risks and trends. We develop Product Risk Assessment for all new products and services and formulate risk mitigation strategies, policies, and controls. We also establish risk tolerance thresholds for every payment product. We re-evaluate the risk controls and find opportunities to profitably grow the business.Optimize risk processes to improve customer experience without increasing the fraud risk exposure. We collaborate with multiple cross functional teams like Product, Operations,Engineering, Customer experience sales support and Data Science team.

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and dedicated person to join BILL’s Risk Management team. This role will report to Senior Manager, Risk Strategy will work closely with cross functional teams to formulate fraud and credit risk management policies and tactics for payment products across different channels and partners.This person will be responsible for building and maintaining the risk policies and collaborate with cross functional teams to operationalize these risk policies. This person will also be responsible for creating an overarching policy framework that encompasses credit risk, fraud risk and reputation risk for payment products. This person would be responsible for identifying opportunities to profitably optimize risk controls for payment products and grow the product TPV. This position requires a person who has experience with using data to inform insights, influence stakeholders on relative priorities, management, refining risk policies and driving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop the product risk assessment for payment products and define the risk criteria for offering payment products
  • Develop the risk strategy and controls for the end to end enrollment of payment products on BILL platform 
  • Designing & maintaining the data driven fraud strategies for payment products to optimize fraud losses and continue the spend & revenue growth
  • Implement payment risk strategy in collaboration with Product and Operations team 
  • Creates reports on the results of implemented strategies, using all appropriate quantitative methods and makes recommendations to increase efficiencies and revenue while managing risk and produce those reports on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to prioritize, implement, and optimize risk mitigation policies and controls.
  • Prioritizing the risk product road map with product team for payment products
  • Optimize risk processes to improve customer experience without increasing the fraud risk exposure.

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • 7+ years of experience in payment/fraud risk management within the Fintech or financial services industries with an emphasis on fraud and credit risks
  • Bachelor's degree; MS/MA/MBA degree preferred in Business, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience managing a team would be preferred 
  • Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of risk policy such as fraud detection and prevention, balancing customer experience against rising fraud threats, using data to draw insights for risk mitigation
  • Adept at SQL queries, reporting and presenting findings; Proficiency in Excel visualization tools
  • Strong organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize manage multiple projects at once
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Management, Engineering teams to convey the strategy and work through the roadmap prioritization, planning and implementation. Also collaborating effectively with Customer success and sales teams while dealing with escalations and effectively communicating the risk policies to the broader organization.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with defining, developing, and deploying risk management methodologies and models including data science and rule-based and predictive fraud models.
  • Expertise in driving operational efficiencies and scale through ongoing policy and model optimization.
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with the Compliance team and formulate the strategy for new product launches.
  • Experience managing cross-functional, multi-stakeholder processes, communicating and influencing stakeholders at various levels across functional boundaries
  • Strong analytical abilities. Familiarity with typical credit data, systems & technologies is highly valuable

This role is based in California.

The estimated base salary range for this role is noted below for our office location in San Jose, CA. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in BILL’s bonus and equity plan. Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed above. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.

$131,000—$164,300 USD
