Position Overview:

Verra Mobility is looking for a highly driven, strategic North American Payroll Manager who will be responsible for driving our North American Payroll team towards best-in-class payroll performance. This role will be responsible for operational oversight of Payroll operations, payroll processes and understanding the local, state, and federal payroll laws. As the US Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring payrolls processed accurately and timely; payroll systems are appropriately functioning and configured; and training leading, mentoring the payroll team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Manager ensures the preparation and processing of payroll is timely and accurate
  • Preparing or reviewing all US and Canadian payroll journal entries including the performance of tie-out procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Manage a team of payroll specialists supporting the efficient processing, provide coaching, problem solving and initiating process improvement
  • Working with our third-party payroll provider ensure compliance with all Country, Federal, State, and local payroll tax laws
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure payroll codes are properly aligned to GL codes, provide information for accounting accruals for wages and PTO
  • Partner with internal stakeholders such as Finance and Human Resources to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Collaboration with external stakeholders/vendors as needed
  • Support annual financial statement, 401(k), and other audits as required
  • Oversee the issuance of W-2's
  • Manager reconciling and processing of funding to 401(k), FSA and HSA providers
  • Provide employees and stakeholders with excellent customer service while adhering to company policies
  • Manage payroll merger and acquisition integrations
  • Assist with the evaluation and/or implementation of new payroll and/or HR applications, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, Human Resources, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years payroll experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years management or supervisory experience required
  • Experience with Payroll software or similiar payroll system required; Ulti-Pro Workday or Oracle preferred
  • Excellent customer service, relationship building and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; must be detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple projects, meet deadlines and solve problems analytically and show discretion with confidential information
  • Excellent PC skills (Word, Power Point, etc.); advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; adaptable to flex and change as business needs and priorities change
