Position Overview 

We are looking for an experienced Manager of People Operations to join the global People & Culture team. BSR’s people vision is to enable a collaborative and inclusive environment where we develop and grow sustainability leaders who make a global difference, today and in the future. In addition to global responsibilities, this position will be the US and Asia lead on all employee experience activities, working with the global People & Culture team to improve our people processes and drive increased employee engagement and satisfaction. Due to the diversity of responsibilities of the role, the ideal candidate will be a generalist with a solid knowledge of U.S. employment issues, compliance, strong people skills, and a passion for HR. 

Location preference is New York however San Francisco or fully remote in the USA will be considered. The position reports to the Managing Director of People & Culture based in Paris and will supervise a People Operations Coordinator.  

  • Global People Operations Management:  
    • Manages HR policies globally including the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures. Work with legal advisors to ensure compliance. Communicate the policies to staff.   
    • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
    • Oversees the global and local staff handbooks updates.
    • Manages compensation framework including the yearend processes. 
    • Evaluates and identifies key trends in global HR metrics.
    • Supports internal mobility between office locations including visa applications.
    • Manages employee files and records.
    • Administers various HR plans and procedures for all staff.
    • Handles employee relations counseling and provides support to employees in various HR-related topics such as performance, compensation and resolve issues and conflicts.
    • Works closely with Payroll to ensure that all changes related to and including benefits, taxes, direct deposit, and leaves of absence are in the system for all Payroll cycles.
    • Oversees the off-boarding process.
    • Manages off-boarding including exit interviews and administration. 
  • Asia Oversite: 
    • Manages PEO relationship and liaisons with staff employed via PEO in Asia. 
    • Manages benefits administration for U.S. and Asia employees, including change reporting, approving invoices for payment, acting as the lead for the annual open enrollment process, and communicating benefits information to employees. 
    • Oversees the management of leaves of absence (including Parental and Disability in the US and Asia). 
  • US Regulation: 
    • Works with ADP to ensure US regulatory compliance.  
    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations as well as reporting requirements. 
    • Manages the 401(k) plan and assists Payroll with yearly compliance reporting. 
    • Ensures US compliance including managing the Ethics point reporting process as well as mandated training. 

At BSR we have implemented a transparent total compensation framework with an emphasis on internal equity. In order to maintain our equity our hiring range is $84,490-$97,163 for this position. Location adjustment will apply if successful candidate resides in New York or San Francisco

Qualifications 
  • 7-10 years’ experience in an HR generalist role. 
  • Understanding of general HR policies and procedures. 
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment and labor laws. Experience working in a global HR role a plus. 
  • Experience in people metrics and organization data analysis and demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving. Data-driven and process oriented; demonstrated ability to base decisions on data.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP and/or Bamboo is a plus).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and people skills. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities and to operate in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Strong, value-driven customer service orientation. Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the global team.
  • Passionate about supporting talent in a mission-driven organization.
