The Team

The Finance team at Kraken is a group of specialists charged with managing the firm’s liquidity capital and risk and providing the overall financial controls and reporting functions for executive decision making compliance and audit readiness. Our work contributes directly to Kraken’s success.

The Platform Accounting team within the Finance organization is responsible for financial accounting and reporting on a variety of products and transactions including fiat digital assets futures margin options and other new company initiatives. In addition the Platform Accounting team oversees OTC operation serving high-networth individuals and financial institutional clients.

We are seeking an Accounting Manager who will work closely with your Finance and Accounting leadership cohorts as well as business partners to plan implement improve automate test and ensure the Platform Accounting team provides complete and accurate financial records and reports for management improves the quality of our financial statements and boosts our audit readiness. Join an elite Finance team to drive improvements and automation for all internal processes.

The Opportunity

• Interface daily with internal systems and our proprietary exchange platform to assist with fiat and digital asset position reconciliations across our various bank accounts and crypto wallets

• Promptly research and correct discrepancies and communicating actions to the appropriate stakeholders

• Support new product launches and company initiatives by determining proper accounting treatments and implementing necessary close and reconciliation procedures to ensure timely and accurate record and report

• Communicate and facilitate issue resolution between our OTC desks Treasury Developers Data Scientists and Finance including making journal entries as necessary

• Develop and implement policies and procedures for revenue recognition and reconciliation of related assets and liabilities with supporting internal and external data

• Identify automation opportunities and actively work with Finance Transformation and Product Engineering teams to streamline processes in order to gain greater efficiency and transparency

• Support internal and external audits by documenting internal control procedures and submitting PBC schedules

• Provide schedules and reconciliation support for ad hoc financial and regulatory reporting requests

Skills You Should HODL

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field

• 7+ years of combined audit and/or accounting experience from the Big 4 or national accounting firms and/or industry preferred in Financial Services Fintech broker-dealer banking or exchange

• Knowledge of US GAAP and experience with SOX

• Collaborative innovative flexible and adept at building relationships across the organization

• Ability to handle and lead multiple projects and deliverables in a fast-paced dynamic environment

• Microsoft Excel proficiency including pivot tables H & V-Lookup

• CPA in good standing

• Experience or knowledge with cryptocurrency

• Experience and knowledge with SQL

• Experience with high volume transactions

• Experience using an ERP system such Netsuite
