Manager, Platform Automation and Deployment Engineering

The Manager of Platform Automation and Deployment Engineering leads Automation Engineering, Tooling and Deployment Automation and development team support across multiple hospitality products. This is inclusive of public and private cloud environments, with the goal of automating infrastructure and application deployment across all environments as well as architecting, along with development teams, platforms and emerging CI/CD technologies. This role is accountable for all supporting the lifecycle of all CI/CD platforms used to support development and production environments. This role will also be responsible for specific projects within the organization such as overseeing platform migrations and managing new platform deployments. Working with teams across multiple disciplines on both technical infrastructure and application development are required.

• Accountable for the budget, performance and results of a team or multiple teams of employees. Influences the resource, budget and policy planning and sets concrete development plans for the team members.
• Has a mid/long-term vision of the activity and the business, influences the department's strategy based on a broad understanding of the environment. Exposed to complex decision making.
• Works with a high level of autonomy, based on management directions, escalating issues only when necessary.
• Build, retain and train to personnel ensure the right technical expertise is available in the group to support and provide consultancy to new or existing customers. Create and maintain detailed documentation on processes and procedures.
• Act as the point of contact and escalation for service consumers, including development and adjacent engineering teams. Participate in feature planning and grooming in order to establish the operational backlog in accordance of the Program Increment requirements.
• Manage the team to design, deploy, upgrade and administer platforms including Chef, Bitbucket, Artifactory, Jenkins and other CI/CD tools as necessary. Adhere to operational level agreements to development customers consuming the platforms for deployment from development through production. Assist in architecting and designing CI/CD tooling and processes to facilitate maturity of the pipelines for infrastructure and applications.
• Manage the team troubleshoot and resolve monitoring alerts for our DevOps tools, including service failures, disk space, CPU utilization, etc. Support incident recovery especially in diagnosis and service restoration in a 24x7 set up. Maintain and exceed customer's stability expectations and SLAs.
• Assist in deploying platforms and services or overseeing migrations of existing platforms and services as necessary.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Excellent knowledge of Windows and Linux systems • Experience with container systems (Docker) and container orchestration (e.g. Swarm, Kubernetes) is required• Experience with automation and scripting required• Experience with code repositories (GIT, Bitbucket), continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Maven)• Experience with database technologies is desirable• Experience with infrastructure as code automation using Terraform or Azure Resource Management (ARM) is highly desirable.• Should have high level of understanding of DevOps processes.• Working experience in an Agile engineering team is desirable.• Good communication (written and verbal)• Must be willing work in a 24x7x365 rotational environment. This may include a 24/7 shared on-call schedule.

Education:

Bachelor's degree required, or relevant work experience.
