Salary Range

$135,000 - $229,400
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

Consider leading an exciting new MESA organization that supports production and delivery of numerous products for critical national security missions. We are seeking a technical R&D Manager who will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical direction for the Post-Fab supply chain management team. This group is responsible for developing and managing supply chains for multiple Post-Fab product realization activities including Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), Electrical Environmental Sensing Device (EESD), and Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors (HBTs). The manager will provide support to a range of projects within MESA, so will have the opportunity to develop relationships and make contributions across the center with high visibility to senior management and federal program managers.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Develop and implement supply chain management processes to improve efficiency for ND product manufacturing.
  • Oversee inventory and material control, supply chain risk assessments, third party material verification, configuration management, etc.
  • Provide clear and achievable execution plans to your team for timely materials and vendor access for Post-Fab Technologies' realization (5236), packaging (5235), advanced packaging (5232) and testing (5231) production groups.
  • Manage relationships with critical external suppliers to ensure on-time and on-quality delivery of products to federal programs.
  • Own the implementation and adoption of enhanced business, financial and production system capabilities within Oracle, Factory works and other applications for our department.
  • Strategically recruit and mentor staff and technologists to achieve necessary Post-Fabrication supply chain management needs.
  • Establish a vision, setting high expectations, promoting accountability, providing assistance to remove roadblocks to progress, and maintaining a safe, secure, and productive work environment.
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM or relevant field plus ten (10) or more years of relevant experience or;
    • Master's degree in the above plus six (6) or more years' experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated leadership experience as a PRT lead and/or a department manager
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L clearance


Qualifications We Desire

  • Establishing strong vendor partnerships and vendor management processes
  • Demonstrated track record of mentoring and coaching staff members and technologists
  • Experience with and training in lean six sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with microelectronics assembly processes and tooling
  • Knowledge of ND products and programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior and executive management
  • Demonstrated experience working in a product delivery or related production environment
  • Experience or familiarity with Realize Product Procedures (RPPs), NW Quality standards, and/or delivery of Mark Quality products
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills in developing trust-based relationships among peers, staff, management, and customers
  • Experience in Major Component and/or Sandia Production (SP) projects
  • Knowledge of the capabilities of SNL's constituent organizations and a professional network at SNL that allows rapid engagement
  • Active DOE L or Q clearance


About Our Team

The Post-Fab Technologies organization is responsible for microelectronic packaging design, development, engineering and production activities with applications spanning microelectronics, MEMS, photonic systems, and RFICs. The Post-Fab Technologies Group is part of Sandia's Microsystems Engineering, Science, and Applications Center (MESA). This new organization will consolidate Post-Fab's supply chain, planning, scheduling, and product realization functions to coordinate all in- and out-of-house packaging activities.
