The Point72 Valuation team manages the valuation of all investments across the Firm’s extensive hedge fund, private equity, and venture capital portfolios. The team’s investment valuation coverage ranges from exchange traded products to derivatives traded in OTC markets; including equities, listed futures/options, bonds, fixed income OTC derivatives (interest rate swaps/swaptions), FX spot/forwards/options, credit derivatives, commodity products, venture capital and private equity. The Valuation team provides valuations and P&L for investments on a real time basis for portfolio managers, the Risk team, and senior management.

What you’ll do

• Lead in the further development of Point72’s valuation process of private equity and venture capital portfolios; research technical valuation matters and provide thought leadership on best practices and emerging trends
• Coordinate with deal teams to lead valuation reviews of diverse private equity and venture capital portfolios by building and maintaining valuation models in accordance with ASC Topic 820, and present analysis and fair value recommendations to the Valuation Committees in compliance with Point72’s valuation policies
• Coordinate with third-party valuation firms to support the firm’s valuations
• Respond to inquiries from the external auditors regarding the concluded valuations and supporting documents
• Review and coordinate valuation and P&L reporting for internal performance tracking and investor reporting

What’s required

• 5-7 years of valuation experience on private equities at a valuation advisory firm, audit firm, or private equity/venture capital fund
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Experience with financial statements, various stages of businesses from seed to IPO, and the acceptable valuation methods, including market comps, income (DCF), and scenario analysis (PWERM)
• Knowledge of cap tables and the impact they have on equity value allocation across share classes; familiar with the use of Black Scholes or other option models
• Strong excel modeling skills
• Familiar with Capital IQ and Bloomberg
• Strong personal ownership, highly analytical, detail-oriented, and a commitment to excellence
• Ability to work with varying deadlines, as well as address ad-hoc inquiries and projects
• Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to work effectively on a team

The annual base salary range is $170,000-$215,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
