We are seeking a Manager, Product Development and Value Advantage to join our team at the Nissan North Americas Headquarters in Franklin, TN.

Oversee the development, maintenance, and value alternative service parts for Nissan/Infiniti brands through innovative products, set direction for product determination, vendor selection & management, sales & marketing, promotion, application coverage, forecasting, product pricing, and product training. Responsible for P&L of the product portfolio. Supervises the management and maintenance of all associated product content, creative, photography, cataloging, and application coverage data for the product portfolio. Coordinates Purchasing and Quality Teams to define product attributes, features & benefits, market position, and requirements to bring products to market.

  • Securing vendor partnerships that support the strategic initiatives within each category. Recruits new vendor partnerships; seeks out vendor innovations/marketplace differentiation.
  • Directly and effectively negotiates with vendor partners, establishing programs and driving outcomes that provide sustained growth and profitability.
  • Establishes criteria for Preferred Vendor partnerships and routinely evaluates results and reports performance to stakeholders.
  • Track and report quarterly on partner performance, promotion success, key metrics of product line including sales, revenue, and GP targets, sales opportunity funnel metrics, and competitive updates.
  • Prepares and drives countermeasures where performance does not meet target expectations.
  • Work cross-functionally with all areas of our business including, but not limited to, key stakeholders, vendor partners, marketing, sales, customer support, operations, and finance.
  • Closely monitors education short and long-term product trends and is pro-active in securing pricing advantages/exclusivity with vendor partners.
  • Leads a team of Category Managers/Senior Product Planners toward a common vision focused on support of the sales organization while driving margin and revenue goals. Expands categories with quarterly partner events, quarterly business reviews, market research, product solution requirement documentation, and business case development for strategic alignment with market demand and customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in regular MRMs with strategic partners leveraging cross-functional team members as appropriate. Evaluates the scope of the relationship and results of the partnership.
  • Works in partnership with Marketing to drive product promotion planning including communication, product positioning, product launch and other commercialization activities. This includes, but is not limited to, the definition of key marketing messages, support for the generation of marketing collateral, development of sales demos and tools.
  • Recruit, hire, and manage personnel for the Category Management department.
  • Creates and maintains short-term and long-range product plans. Oversee development of the market and financial case studies to determine the viability of developing new products. Responsible for maintaining product coverage and enhances existing products.
  • Defines purchasing strategy and works closely with vendors to establish product coverage, defining collaborative marketing & sales go-to-market strategy, logistics and inventory support, and determining supplier commercial terms & conditions, pricing, performance incentives, packaging, and marketing & promotional for supporting product line.
  • Maintains monthly performance reports for distribution. Develops annual budget and maintains respective budget data for associated sales and marketing programs.
  • Promotes increased sales through the development of product content benefits, coaching and training, and feedback with field personnel and customers for the assigned parts categories.
  • Manages the development of national sales and marketing initiatives and implements tactics designated to achieve sales and profit objectives by working with vendors, regional and National staff teams, including Finance and Purchasing.

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualification statements reflect the minimum skills and abilities required of the qualified applicant.

  • Job Knowledge and Skill: Working experience with product development, market research, consumer and dealer product expectations, automotive parts, and chemical product experience. Knowledge of automotive vehicle systems and parts applications. Basic understanding of state and federal regulations pertaining to parts and chemical products.
  • Experience: Eight plus years of professionally related experience.
  • Supervisory Experience: Two or more years providing on-the-job training to new employees, and project supervision.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related Marketing discipline.
  • Computer Skills: Thorough computer knowledge such as word processors, spreadsheets, other PC applications, or mainframe applications to resolve complex problems in day-to-day situations.
