Manager, Professional Services Engineering

AbacusNext is seeking a highly technical Manager of Professional Services Engineering for an exciting leadership role within the Global Service Delivery Team. The primary responsibility for this position will be leading and managing our Professional Services Technical Consultants and Engineers, helping them to better design, implement and deliver software customization, integration, and document automation projects that meet the requirements of our customers.
The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of business process design, software service delivery, and technical solution architecture to ensure that our Professional Services Engineering team is executing consistently and efficiently at the highest level. Exceptional customer engagement is key to being successful in this role. We are looking for someone who is ambitious, innovative and sets high standards for themselves and their teams to provide the best customer experience. The successful candidate requires a high level of familiarity across a range of Project Management tools and software development best practices with the ability to adapt and learn new technologies as they become available. It is desirable that the candidate has design and implementation experience with enterprise class software, such as document management systems or tools and frameworks used to design / automate business processes and must have extensive experience managing software engineering teams.
As a Manager of Professional Services Engineering, the right candidate will also have strong leadership skills, experience leading international technical teams through process and documentation improvement, and a strong commitment to training and technical skills development.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Develop and manage execution processes in alignment with industry best practices
- Develop and manage ongoing technical training programs for engineering teams
- Participate in technical planning & requirements gathering for client projects
- Manage international resource capacity in alignment with service quality and efficiency KPIs
- Interface with customers to diagnose issues and handle escalations
- Implement projects using industry best practice and standards and ensure that technical software development processes are followed on the project
- Be familiar with industry best practices for software development
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience levels
- Coach a small global Professional Services team on API Integration, and software development best practices
Qualifications:
- Outstanding leadership skills
- Experience managing global service delivery teams
- Extensive experience managing software development teams
- Extensive experience managing software development or customization projects
- Extensive experience in Enterprise Customer Service
- Familiarity with full stack development best practices (C#, SQL, JavaScript, HTML)
- Hands-on experience with building distributed / service oriented / microservice-style and cloud-based architectures
- Experience in Web Services standards and technologies (REST, JSON, XML, SOAP, WSDL)
- Strong understanding of software architecture
- Self-starter who can work independently
- Excellent consulting, verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Hands-on experience with database technologies, MS SQL database preferred
- Excellent documentation skills (will ask for examples)
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in technical team management
- Minimum 2 years' experience with software development or service delivery management
- Extensive experience in technology consulting or solution design
- Extensive experience managing and delivering technical projects
