This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to Syracuse, NY

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Director, Operation, Innovation & Excellence, the Manager Revenue Assurance is responsible for the strategy, oversight and technical guidance for revenue assurance, and the related technology systems, processes, and activities. S/he leads the development of strategies to leverage and continuously improve technology systems and processes, to ensure compliance and to optimize revenue objectives, competitiveness, customer value and service. S/he will proactively evolve the service offerings to meet changing business direction, customer expectations, legal and regulatory requirements, and financial objectives. S/he will oversee day-to-day revenue assurance operations and direct revenue assurance and compliance risks from a financial, regulatory, and brand & reputation standpoint. In addition, s/he contributes to the development and/or defense of required revenue assurance evidence in support of regulatory filings.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for all aspects of revenue assurance including reporting, advanced data analysis, leakage management, leakage prevention and business process change
- Monitor financial and operational metrics, work with other departments to implement best practices and define error resolution processes
- Leverage stakeholder relationships to identify opportunities that have potential for revenue loss and develop and implement best practices to minimize revenue leakage
- Translate business objectives into clearly defined metrics and targets
- Continuously work to understand and mitigate losses to ensure the highest levels of revenue recognition
- Maintain in-depth understanding of industry trends relative to revenue assurance practices
- Promote quality assurance for all processes impacting revenue
- Perform data manipulation and analysis using tools such as Business Objects, SQL and MS-Access
- Analyze data/reports to identify opportunities and areas for improvement
- Create executive level reporting with accuracy and advanced level presentation
- Ensures that jurisdictional compliance risks are identified, managed, mitigated, and controlled and audit gaps remediated and closed, as required
- Develops and manages departmental budget to achieve lowest process cost
- Drives opportunities to leverage and continuously improve management, governance, and technology systems to address changing business, operational and regulatory needs, control risks and costs, optimize processes and ensure compliance, competitiveness, customer value and service
- Proactively identifies emerging risks and implements strategies to address
- Promote the philosophy of teamwork and development across all revenue assurance activities to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Degree / professional qualification of minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in revenue assurance operations leading billing, payment processing and collection functions (regulated company experience, preferred)
- Experience in regulatory tariff and rate structures highly desirable
- Experience managing teams in a high volume / target driven operational function
CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong understanding of key business drivers and external commercial environment
- Experience leading, inspiring, and motivating large operational teams
- Proven influencing skills, ability to influence at senior levels internally and externally
- Knowledge of commercial and residential laws and regulations related to credit and collections, billing, meter data and payment processing
- Understanding of financial accounting fundamentals, as well as receivables specific accounting knowledge
- Sound understanding of data collection, processing and billing processes and technology, meter to cash
- Understanding of meter data and validation and estimation processes
- Knowledge of audit processes and operational and technological governance and compliance management systems
- Knowledge of project lifecycle and experience in system upgrades, conversions, enhancements
- Utility knowledge an asset
- Strong analytical and data management skills
- Ability to handle complex situations, and resolve difficult or non-routine issues
- Demonstrated knowledge of collections, payments and billing best practices and technologies
- Demonstrated experience in performance measurement and quality monitoring
- Superior and demonstrated customer service skills
- Demonstrated conflict and problem-solving skills (i.e. to resolve complex customer, process and technology related issues)
- Strong vendor management skills
- Strong stakeholder and engagement skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated operational, financial, and business acumen

Salary
$110,000 - $129,000 a year
Salary commensurate with location and experience
