The Business Resiliency Leader is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for Business Resiliency activities across the enterprise. They will participate in major initiatives to:

  • Manage a center of expertise with methodologies, templates and metrics
  • Facilitating engagement and interaction across Business Units and central support functions to align approaches and share leading practice
  • Aggregating and 'checking and challenging' outputs from 1st Line of Defense (LOD)
  • Maintaining a single view of risks to important business services and work being done to mitigate them
  • Undertaking mitigation of group level resilience risks affecting multiple units
  • Provide senior facing challenge and advice to Operational Resilience Champions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Understands, communicates and promotes enterprise policy, standard and processes related to business resiliency and resumption
  • Leads the execution of business resiliency and resumption planning and preparedness activities for all departments within the company
  • Leads the identification, review and mitigation of continuity/recovery risks and recovery requirements across the company
  • Liaises with Plan Owners to plan, develop and support the implementation of response/recovery strategies
  • Leads the company response/recovery planning effort
  • Plans and promotes company awareness and supports the training of personnel on established response/recovery planning provisions
  • Facilitates company preparedness by planning and supporting Plan Owners in the execution of testing, maintenance and continuous improvement activities
  • Conducts assessments and communicates results and observations to senior management
  • Collaborates with others to advance business resiliency and disaster recovery agenda and support broad initiatives
  • Leads the Business Impact Analysis process for the enterprise

Qualifications include:

  • College degree in business or technology field preferred
  • 6-8 years of experience in business resiliency, disaster recovery or related fields
  • Strong technical business conversation skills with the ability to adapt to audience. The job interacts with a variety of different executive groups and levels.
  • Deep business understanding and knowledge
  • Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills required
  • Strong verbal/written communications. Must be able to interface and coordinate work efficiently and effectively with a diverse set of leaders
  • Strong administrative skills, with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve target dates
  • Travel and off-hour/on-call support required may be required

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures improvement of the risk posture of the business and technology assets. Understands the current risk posture, oversees risk assessments and monitoring, establishes priorities and monitors issue closure.
  • Delivers moderate to critical risk needs, while maintaining and improving associate work/life balance.
  • Manages demand and capacity to align the right professionals to the right risk efforts and projects.
  • Understands Cyber Security, Compliance and Continuity Management Professionals' capabilities and experience and uses it, aligning the appropriate person to each need.
  • Provides ongoing coaching to enable more effective and efficient delivery of risk products - continuous improvement approach.
  • Reviews cyber security, compliance and continuity management work products and approaches to delivery, risks and issues and provides valuable feedback to Cyber Security, Compliance and Continuity Management Professionals to reduce risk and improve their ability to deliver.
  • Improves resource capability and risk management products value continuously.
  • Provides opportunities for Cyber Security, Compliance and Continuity Management Professionals to improve capabilities through coaching, experience and training opportunities.
  • Drives quality and efficiency through mature products and processes.
  • Oversees associate management, including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organization planning, day-to-day management, hiring and placement and disciplinary actions for direct and possibly indirect reports.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director or above; Leads a team of five or more Risk Management professionals.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies (bachelor's degree preferred) in cyber security, management information systems, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics or related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. Graduate studies in cyber security, computer science or a related field are a plus.

License/Certification/Designation: Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISRM, BCP, DRP or other related certifications are encouraged but not required.

Experience: Eight or more years of experience in a technology field including three years of leadership experience on large, complex projects. Demonstrated experience leading a team accountable for large-scale technology assets spanning plan, build and run. Demonstrable experience managing business relationships, preferably within the cyber field.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Substantial knowledge of business, technology, cyber, and regulatory trends. Confirmed ability to discover, encourage and challenge talent, raise their capabilities and effectively lead highly engaged teams. Successful candidates can think creatively and share difficult feedback in a positive, encouraging manner. Proven ability to lead a staff through change. Superb communication skills to interact with all levels of associates, senior management and/or vendors. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
