Quantitative Risk Mgmt Sr Associate

The primary purpose and function of this role is to assist the Head of Financial Risk Modeling & Management (FRMM) and the Senior Director, Risk Modeling & Analytics in designing and building out a robust and fit-for-purpose financial risk assessment program. The goal of this financial risk assessment program is to provide oversight and timely effective challenge of the firm's Asset Liability Management (ALM) and Interest Rate Risk Management (IRRM) profile and activities, including but not limited to the following:
• Product development and pricing; and• Financial plan development (liabilities, Interest rate risk); and• Dividend and credited rate setting; and• Asset adequacy testing and other regulatory reporting; and• Valuation and reserving.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
• Liaise with colleagues in the TIAA actuarial community, gaining familiarity with their methodological approaches, and assessing suitability of those approaches for use by Risk Management. Also sharing Risk Management methodological approaches with the Actuarial department. • Liaise with other functional groups (Finance, Tax, Regulatory Affairs, General Account Office, ERM colleagues, etc.) as necessary to understand any specific technical issues that impact TIAA's IRRM and ALM profile and activities.• Liaise with colleagues in various internal IT groups to assess and implement different technology solutions to strengthen Financial Risk Management's oversight capabilities.• Analyze data and modeling results provided by the TIAA actuarial community in order to provide effective challenge and oversight.• Support colleagues in the FRMM group on a variety of activities - including oversight of asset valuation, model governance, oversight of corporate financial planning, etc.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • 3 years of quantitative Analytics, Financial Risk Management


Preferred:
  • 5-7 years of quantitative Analytics, Financial Risk Management
  • Prior experience as a practicing life and annuity actuary desirable
  • Strong knowledge of policy administration systems, actuarial modeling platforms, and asset valuation applications commonly used by US Life, Annuity & Health insurers.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, SQL, and one of the following - R, Python, MATLAB, or C++.
  • Working knowledge of the marketing, pricing, and valuation considerations related to life insurance and annuity products.
  • Attainment of the following professional certifications - (1) Associate Society of Actuaries (ASA) or (2) Fellow Society of Actuaries (FSA) -desirable but not required.


Potential Salary: $117,300.00 USD

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
