Responsibilities:

Lead a team to ensure to maximum efficiency; organize, train, and empower staff to effectively perform and fulfill group responsibilities while promoting employee development .

Maintains active participation in Midwest ISO Settlement resolution partner activities

Develops and maintains a detailed understanding of competitive energy markets as well as coordinating settlement trials between IPL and the Midwest ISO

Leads the daily Energy Market Settlement Process on behalf of IPL and the daily dispute resolution process to correct settlement errors on behalf of IPL

Actively promote the AES Culture and Values emphasizing cross-functional collaboration and teamwork

Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for Settlements; recommend and develop areas for improvement and growth

Assist in or prepare fuel cost adjustment and fuel pass thru charges

Act as primary liaison for the settlements process with both internal and external auditors

Work closely with accounting to prepare journal entries or other accounting related items

Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for power supply settlements; assign work activities, and projects; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems

Manage energy settlement and billing activities; ensure accuracy and timely processing of commodity-related invoices, including disputed invoices and RTO billings; ensure proper general accounting, reporting, and record-keeping of commodity supply transactions and transaction-related data

Verify and report on the departments' compliance with energy risk management programs; implement and update deal capture tools to supervise the department's energy related transactions

Support and assist with other US SBU Risk Management functions such as; Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Reporting, and Insurance

Interact proactively with internal and external customers for process improvements that will improve reporting of commodity transactions

Stay current on market rules, business practices, and policy changes and their impacts on the US SBU and its customers

Adhere to Risk Management Policies and Procedures

Align with EPA and FERC reporting requirements as necessary

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is required. Graduate degree in Business Administration Accounting or Engineering preferred.
  • Previous experience in Energy Settlements, Risk Management or Energy Marketing; analysis and problem solving skills a must
  • Knowledgeable in the operation of energy markets
  • General understanding of generating station operation, transmission system operations is also helpful
