Managers of Software Development provide technical leadership in a specific technology layer or area of the product. Managers are servant leaders who should enjoy helping groups succeed. Closely work with the Product Owner and be accountable for the team's success and results, especially regarding delivery, efficiency, and quality. Managers are responsible for people in their teams, including providing career coaching, mentorship, and growth opportunities. They spend roughly 50% on delivery-oriented duties, 25% of their time in activities like technical design/reviews, writing code, code reviews, etc., & 25% mentoring and managing direct reports. 

How you'll contribute:

• Drive successful delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality & efficiency.

• Leverage knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns to write software in a full-stack web and mobile environment.

• Leverage relevant software development experience to radiate best practices and faster development.

• Provide technical guidance such as design reviews, code reviews, and other technical leadership

• Effectively manage up to 8 direct reports through mentoring and coaching.

• Develop and guide the career paths of direct reports.

• Provide input to create staffing plans with departmental leadership.

• Be an agent for change, at both the team and departmental level.

• Foster a culture of learning and growth.

• Perform HR Management tasks related to each direct report; such as timesheet approval, communication of raises and bonuses, performance reviews, etc.

About you:

• 8+ years in software development, with 2+ years as a mentor or manager
• B.S. in Computer Science or related field, advanced degree preferred
