Role Summary

The Development manager works closely with the Director of Sophos Central Features development and with the Central Product Management team to define and execute the Sophos central vision. In addition, this role involves networking with other product development leaders across Sophos. 

We seek a top performing leader with the passion, experience and gravitas to effectively lead this critical business function. The ideal candidate will be a high energy, team oriented, customer driven problem solver with prior experience in delivering highly scalable and easy to use applications for small businesses and enterprises.

What you will do

• Lead an Agile team to high levels of performance and implement effective and efficient project management processes.
• Provide overall mentorship to a team of 6-9 technical contributors in Bangalore, as well as network effectively with other Sophos product teams across multiple geographies.
• Drive decision-making processes to consensus and ensure that steps are taken to actual implementation of product roadmap.
• Participate in strategic planning and design sessions with product management, engineering management, architects, operations and development team leads.
• Partner effectively with operations to ensure solutions are instrumented to be supported in the field.
• Be a change agent for improving processes both local to the team and more broadly across the organization.

What you will bring

• 12 to 16 years of total experience with 3+ years of people management experience.
• Strong leadership skills and a proven track record of building high performing teams.
• Proven competence in hiring and managing high quality individual contributors. Components of managing include attracting top caliber people.
• Management style that is aligned with the philosophy and evolving culture of the company – a style that encourages team involvement in decision making, accountability, and pragmatism.
• Experience building web-based applications that employ highly interactive JavaScript pages that are fundamentally easy to use, highly reliable and scalable.
• Experience with high-volume consumer or small business oriented solutions.
• Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies.
• In-depth knowledge of Java web-based applications.
• Experience integrating with partners via APIs.
• Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as good interpersonal and organization skills.
