Manager, Software Engineering
Job Description
Build and manage a team of six to ten deployment and orchestration analysts, and consulting/contractor team. Maintain and execute organizational policies and procedures for change management, configuration management, release and deployment management, service monitoring, support, and problem management.
Manage a team discovering, synthesizing, and analyzing information from a variety of internal and external sources, including tools, processes, documentation, and stakeholders.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.
- Manage and mentor a team of deployment and orchestration analysts working on What If Margins (WIM) and Renaissance
- Participate in the scrum ceremonies - initial duties may require filling the role of Scrum Master if one is not assigned
- Take ownership of the orchestration discipline. Manages the development of the Renaissance orchestration end-to-end workflow
- Coordinate with Technical Operations, Infrastructure and Development teams to define and scope implementation plans for major projects from start to finish
- Liaison for orchestration and deployment for the business and the technology teams
- Perform the PO duties for deployment and orchestration
- Establish requirements traceability for deployment and orchestration
- Develop a team that delivers high quality user stories and acceptance criteria
- Work with IT management team, and stakeholders to clarify and ensure implementation approach adherence to business requirements
- Ensure implementation approach compliance with all related company policies, COBIT, ITIL guidelines and other regulatory requirements associated with the project
- Report status to leadership team on deployment and orchestration
- Create presentations, policy and procedures required to support the implementation approach
- Creation and management of extensive confluence pages throughout the implementation lifecycle of a project/program/work-effort
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct work of staff and conduct appropriate personnel actions (hiring, promotions, terminations, etc.) when necessary
- Communicate and advise staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods and software change issues
- Prepare and conduct employee reviews as well as monitor progress to satisfy employee management goals
- Promote employee's development by conducting career-planning sessions and scheduling employee training classes, conferences, and seminars
- Ensure that proper funding added to the departmental budget

- Self-managed high energy person with the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply new tools, processes, and standards

- Highly organized with attention-to-detail and a history of successful delivery according to timelines
- Proven experience leading change in an Agile/Scrum environment in a similar role
- Powerful desire to continuously learn and understand recent technologies from a variety of sources (existing internal documentation, self-study/research etc.)
- Ability to translate ambiguous ideas, technical data, and complex information into straightforward, effective, and easily digestible documents or descriptions
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Confluence, JIRA
- General knowledge of programming languages, databases, testing tools, CI/CD tools, networking technologies, security controls as applied to software technologies
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Information Technology, MIS, Computer Science or Business is a plus
- Master's degree preferred
- 4+ years of software development project experience
- Expert in agile software development
Certificates or Licenses:
- CCBA, CBAP, CSM, and/or any related certification is a plus
