Manager, Software Engineer in Farmington Hills, MI to manage a team of software developers, and contribute to application development to support and maintain platforms and services for Gale's Content Systems portfolio. Meet with the Product and Technology team leads to understand technological needs of the business, and provide guidance on potential solutions. Work with the team to design, architect, and implement new features. Collaborate with internal and enterprise Technology teams to design and develop solutions that tackle complex business problems. Evolve the technology stack to meet growing demands for scale in an operationally sound manner. Support and promote individual professional development and career growth. Help breakdown, estimate, and provide just-in-time design for small increments of work. Use a variety of software development techniques (e.g. test driven development) to ensure consistently high-quality code. Perform root cause analysis, technology evaluation, and design spikes to define architecture supporting high-quality resilient software. Responsible for delivering content systems projects to meet business objectives of the Metadata Services team. Ensure technology deliverables required by Metadata Manager reach successful completion, on schedule. Provide team guidance, focusing on productivity and moving forward on schedule needed to deliver. Clear organizational roadblocks and obtain resources needed to be successful. Coordinate with metadata and content teams to meet project timelines. Work with the Metadata Manager to maintain prioritization of features in product roadmap(s). Identify, engage and nurture new talents to the team. Communicate the status of the project to stakeholders.

Requires: Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in software development and deployment of Java and/or JavaScript programming. Or, alternatively, Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience in software development and deployment of Java and/or JavaScript programming. Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") in code development of Spring Web Services and Spring MVC-Java-JSTL code. DE in object oriented design and programming. DE using continuous integration and source code control systems, including Jenkins, Maven, Git and/or Subversion. DE utilizing JSON, XML parsing and DOM traversal. DE working in an Agile development environment and applying TDD practices and principles. DE training and mentoring team members for project activities and leading an offshore team.
