Manager Software Engineering

Engineers at Hospitality Solutions build large, distributed, and real-time software applications that power the leading Chains and Hotels of the world. We are looking for a team leader who shares a passion for tackling the challenges and complexities that come with building highly available solutions that can scale for the largest Enterprise Chains in the world.
We're currently seeking a highly motivated Manager of Software Engineering for Platform Development to lead a team engineers responsible for developing software solutions for the world's leading hoteliers. The ideal candidate is excited by the prospect of leading our engineers to further optimize our production software applications for scale and speed in imaginative and innovative ways.
This role reports directly to the Director of Software Development in the Hospitality Solutions CRS/PMS Division. Key contacts that this role is required to interact with include business, professional services, care and product leaders of Sabre Hospitality Solutions Division and our customers.

You'll be responsible for:• Designing, implementing and directing the activities of a software systems development function, software applications development function and/or a software quality assurance function. • Providing leadership, career development, and mentoring for the team • Hands on approach to better understand the technical challenges faced by the Team; guide the team in technical solutions • Collaborating with cross-functional teams within Hospitality Solutions and Sabre wide• Overseeing the planning & technical direction of various development projects • Advancing team members professional development and career progression • Participating in problem management processes to look for tooling, automation and monitoring opportunities to improve performance and management of systems and networks • Participating in the management of key vendor and partner relationships • Making decisions based on divisional and business objectives that directly impact results

The successful candidate will have

Required Skills:• Knowledge of best practices for Developing Software, Planning, and Operations • Experience with applications that use data driven decision making models• 8+ years of technology related experience in product technology / startup companies, building high volume, consumer facing, highly reliable and scalable products• A minimum of 3 years of Manager level leadership experience managing distributed teams of technical professionals and cross-functional teams• Must be able to communicate effectively to both business and technical audiences • Self-driven and a strategic leader who continuously raises the bar for self and the team • Candidate should be hands-on technically and should have a deep passion and curiosity for technology • Must have a BS degree in Computer Science or related field from top universities; MS in Computer Science or related fields strongly preferred

Preferred Skills:• Experience with MS Technologies, Cloud technologies, Cloud migration experience is a plus• Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, exhibiting strong ability to identify and solve ambiguous customer-focused problems • Success in hiring and developing highly effective software engineering teams in a global team environment • High attention to detail with proven ability to juggle multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment • Ability to take raw product requirements and create software architectures and designs to bring them to life. • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Product Marketing, Engineering, Program Management, Quality Assurance, and Senior Leadership • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and opinions
