Manager, Software Engineering, Anti-Cheat - Game Tech Group

Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the chance to work in many broader domains. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll predominantly offer creative solutions to organizational design. You’ll also serve as a mentor for a team of engineers, overseeing performance management, growth opportunities, and accountability. 

As a Manager, Software Engineering on the Anti-Cheat Platform team, you’ll dive into projects that focus on team cohesiveness and cross-team goals. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary leadership team to lead a small, passionate team of developers in the delivery of scalable backend services that support the operation of Vanguard. You'll influence the technical direction for how Vanguard services are built, scale and are operated in production, and collaborate with the Client team to comprehensively protect the competitive integrity of VALORANT. You will report to the Head of Anti-Cheat. Vanguard is Riot’s industry-leading anti-cheat solution (for more info on Vanguard click here!).  

• Create, review, and reframe an engineering vision with the team and key stakeholders including the Technology, Product, and Process Leads for Anti-Cheat
• Design, build, and deliver internet scale backend services we will deliver globally to millions of people
• Build features to improve service reliability and performance
• Implement server infrastructure in support of new anti-cheat features
• Identify, recruit, interview, and hire software engineers to help teams scale effectively.
• Build and support live services for Vanguard
• Work with cloud technologies and services such as AWS
• Provide technical expertise throughout the product life cycle including design, implementation, and delivery of features while continuously improving the software engineering quality and efficiency
• Collaborate effectively with analysts, data scientists and other disciplines within the Anti-Cheat group
• Lead, grow, and coach team members to build talent over the long term
• Demonstrate a high bar of craft excellence for your team
• Cultivate your team's culture of collaboration, creativity and passion for game making

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• 2+ years experience directly leading an engineering team either as an Engineering Manager or Technical Lead & mentor
• Professional experience working with cloud computing and cloud technologies
• Professional experience building large scale backend systems or game services
• Expertise with C#, Java, Golang, or similar language(s)
• Familiarity working in an agile environment
• Experience collaborating across departments and disciplines to create solutions
• Strong communication skills

• Professional experience working with Golang
• Professional or academic experience working with C++
