BillionToOne's prenatal product, UNITY™ is the first and only prenatal screen that can directly assess an unborn baby's risk for common and severe recessive gene disorders such as cystic fibrosis and sickle cell, as well as chromosomal abnormalities, fetal sex, and fetal antigens from a single tube of blood from the pregnant mother without paternal testing. BillionToOne’s liquid biopsy oncology products, Northstar Select™ and Northstar Response™, aim to revolutionize how late stage cancers are treated, specifically based on a patient's genetic makeup, and monitored for minute changes in the tumor's DNA load which can assess treatment efficacy, and reduce unwanted toxicity, lower treatment costs, and maximize desired outcomes.

BillionToOne is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering to lead development of customer-facing digital products used by both clinicians and patients. Leading a talented team of software engineers, you will build and continuously refine portals that provide physicians and their patients access to state-of-the-art DNA testing. This position can be hybrid or remote and reports to our CTO.

Examples of what you’ll work on include:

• Build a seamless digital experience so clinicians and patients across a diversity of care centers and socioeconomic status can have access to BillionToOne’s highly complex genetic testing
• Help digitize laborious and error-prone paper-based workflows at busy OBGYN clinics
• Enable better transfer of care through portable electronic medical records 
• Infuse joyful experiences into pregnancy (e.g. gender reveal)

Responsibilities:

• Be responsible for the delivery and operation of high-quality software that helps BillionToOne grow.
• Create and implement software development processes and best practices to enhance team execution and ensure high-quality products. Use data to identify bottlenecks and improve them.
• Provide hands-on leadership by example through designing, reviewing, and writing code.
• Lead technical planning. 
• Collaborate with Design and Product management to deliver delightful experiences for patients and providers.
• Mentor and guide a team of 3-6 software engineers in their technical and professional development.
• Manage the hiring process to bring on new talent as needed.

Qualifications:

• B.Sc/M.Sc degree in Computer Science or equivalent, from a well-known university
• 5+ years hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling consumer-facing web applications in the consumer health-tech, digital health, or diagnostics industries required
• 3+ years of experience managing teams as a Software Engineering Manager required
• Experience at 0-1 startups or growth companies preferred
• Strong knowledge of web technology across front-end and back-end: Javascript, React, Postgres, Python
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and devops (e.g. Docker, AWS, Sentry, Datadog)

At BillionToOne, we are proud to offer a combination of a (1) base pay range (actual amount offered is based experience and salary/equity options split that the candidate chooses) (2) generous equity options offering, on top of (3) industry leading company benefits (free healthcare options, 401k match, very generous fully paid paternal leave etc.).

For this position, the base pay range is: $200,000 to $240,000 per year, plus generous equity options package.
