Position Summary:

Perforce is searching for a Manager, Software Engineering to join the team. The Manager, Software Engineering will be responsible for driving the technology roadmap and for hiring and retaining the best engineering talent around, growing teams towards excellence and agility. They will be working on supporting customers with providing SLA bound CVE remediation on Open Source Enterprise Linux distributions and Apache Kafka.

Responsibilities:

• E2E responsibility for the software product delivery 
• Responsible for leading a team of systems engineers and senior programmers
• Drive the group to work efficiently and consistently following an Agile methodology (Sprint planning, daily stand ups, retrospective meetings, etc.) 
• Identify technical debt and challenges and drive the team to reduce them 
• Provide hands-on technical support to the team in troubleshooting complex issues 
• Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, security best practices 
• Evaluate architecture options, set technical direction and quality standards, guide implementation
• Work closely with key business and product stakeholders on building the technical and product roadmap
• Troubleshooting and researching capabilities to look for solutions 

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with C/C++ and Java enterprise level systems software and demonstrates excellent leadership qualities while driving the Engineering Teams
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work within a cross-functional team
• B.E./B.Tech in computer science, or equivalent experience with demonstrated proficiency
• 12+ years of relevant professional experience in software development, ideally with complex enterprise grade systems
• 2+ years of project management and people management experience is a must 
• Good understanding of Enterprise Linux OS, VMs and Containers, Patch Management, Vulnerability remediation 
• Good understanding of Apache Kafka architecture, security configurations, patch management and vulnerability remediation
• Good understanding of C/C++ and Java coding practices, enterprise software design patterns
• Experience working with CI/CD tools
• Worked in Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban)

Desired Experience:

• Experience with using AI/ML tools – copilot, chatGPT
