Manager, Software Engineering - Reporting Platform

As our Manager of Software Engineering, Reporting Platform at Ridgeline, you’ll provide development leadership of our high-performance data and analytics platform, in a fast-moving, progressive work environment. The Ridgeline Reporting platform is key for our application model, providing extensible access to high performance reporting, ETL, API’s for our scalable data engines.  

As a leader at Ridgeline and one of our first 400 employees, you will also help preserve our culture, and influence the trajectory of an ambitious fintech startup. Our team aims to leave a legacy in an investment management industry primed for change.

Key Expectations

• Provide technical insight as to design and best practice for data management environments, metadata management, performance, scalability, and security.  
• Work closely with Engineering, Architecture, and Product Management teams to drive timely execution of data services development 
• Be involved in the entire software development process, from requirements and design reviews through the implementation of a new product, understanding agile development methodologies 
• Hands-on responsibility with the codeline, contributing to the codebase on a regular basis
• An active participant in the peer and code review process
• Mentor and advise engineers to develop new skills and advance their career through coaching
• Engage in performance conversations and help align business objectives and career goals
• Impact a developing tech stack based on modern front-end frameworks and cost-efficient utilization of AWS back-end services
• Build a diverse team while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment
• Ensure close relationships in a multi-location organization, connecting our product and engineering teams.

Desired Skills and Experience

• 5+ years in a software engineering management position or similar function, with a history of architecting and designing data oriented projects in the cloud.  
• Experience designing and developing enterprise applications with agile development methodologies
• Experiencing managing data management oriented projects, in Python  
• Clear and crisp communicator
• A degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related discipline
• Ability to lead and influence both with and without authority
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and architectural patterns
• Ability to focus on short-term deliverables while maintaining a big-picture perspective
• An aptitude for problem-solving
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
• Serious interest in having fun at work

Nice-to-Haves

• Understanding of building back-end infrastructure using AWS, with specific focus on RDS, Lambda, Kinesis, S3, Glue
• Experience with investment management applications
