In this role, you will drive high-impact business development initiatives within the Aerospace & Defense electronics ecosystem, focusing on strategic engagement with major defense and technology partners. You will act as a key growth driver, identifying, shaping, and capturing new opportunities well before formal solicitations, while aligning closely with engineering, operations, and program teams. This position requires deep customer engagement, particularly with large defense organizations, to influence requirements, build long-term partnerships, and position advanced technical solutions. You will operate in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment where your insights directly shape capture strategies and investment decisions. The role combines strategic account leadership, technical credibility, and commercial execution to expand critical aerospace and defense programs. Frequent travel and close customer interaction are central to success in this highly visible, mission-critical position.
Accountabilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for driving strategic account growth, leading capture activities, and developing deep customer relationships within key aerospace and defense accounts.
- Serve as the primary coordination point for new business opportunities within assigned strategic accounts
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with customer program offices, engineering teams, and decision-makers
- Identify and develop pipeline opportunities aligned with long-term customer roadmaps and sector strategy
- Lead capture efforts, including strategy development, win themes, competitive positioning, and pricing collaboration
- Engage early in customer planning cycles to influence requirements and shape future solicitations
- Translate customer needs into actionable internal strategies across engineering, operations, and commercial teams
- Maintain CRM documentation of opportunities, stakeholders, and competitive intelligence to support capture success
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace & defense business development, strategic sales, or account leadership roles
- Proven success working in complex, matrixed organizations and cross-functional environments
- Strong understanding of aerospace & defense electronics, RF/microwave systems, and mission systems markets
- Experience in capture management, opportunity shaping, and structured sales methodologies (e.g., Phase Gate)
- Strong communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills
- Ability to build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders and technical teams
- Analytical mindset with experience in competitive analysis and pricing strategy development
- Familiarity with CRM tools and capture/proposal management systems
