Job Summary
Manages all software systems programming activities and applications generally affecting the overall operating system such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, advanced scientific software, large telecommunication networks, and computer accounting. Directs the interface of software systems with the hardware configuration and application systems. Manages and assigns staff to projects and directs their activities.
Essential Functions
- Supervises HBOC and PeopleSoft administrators in the configuration, tuning, and rollout of IBM Raven (AIX), DEC Alpha (VMS), Windows NT, and Novell NetWare servers. Develops standards, processes and procedures, and backup and recovery mechanisms.
- Configures and tests Tivoli for the environment.
- Works with application developers to develop batch schedules and integrates batch schedulers across platforms.
- Performs code migrations and disaster recovery planning.
- Trains operators on operations procedures and designs and executes operations test.
- Plans projects using standard CMS methods to develop manpower and cost estimates. Counsels CMS management on technology direction, and provides leadership and mentoring to Technical Team members.
- Thorough knowledge of UNIX production operations in a 5000+ workstation environment is required.
Work is subject to high-level visibility through exposure to administration. This position requires high degree of proficiency in verbal and written communications. Must be available for callback support on a regular basis, due to schedules, extensive evening and weekend hours may be required at times for conversions, training, etc. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. 8 years experience installing and supporting sophisticated information systems in a health care environment utilizing client/server technologies required.
