**We are seeking to fill 2 positions thru this posting:
With full support of the Southern Company Management Council, the electric operating companies recently approved a four-year business initiative leveraging technology to help the electric operating companies realize the vision for a modernized, efficient digital customer experience to deeply engage with our customers and provide a more personalized experience. The initiative will implement new CIS (Customer Information System ) and MDM (Meter Data Management) systems, along with an advanced analytics platform, enhanced customer engagement tools for our customers and a modern agent desktop. The program will impact all 4.2 million electric customers across all our customer engagement channels (Voice Response Unit, web portals, mobile app, etc.) and includes billing over $52 billion annually for Southern Company. This initiative is focused on the electric operating companies. The project team will consist of an estimated 450 internal and external resources spread across five workstreams.
Each Manager, Technology (CIS/MDM) position is responsible for the oversight, management, and delivery of critical activities within the Technology Workstream required for the program .

The location for this position is flexible between Atlanta, Birmingham, or Gulfport .
The successful candidate will remain an employee of the operating company while reporting to the CIS/MDM Project Team and may report to a SCS or operating company leader for delivery.
There will be alignment for technology employees to the technology leaders and business employees to business leaders .

Manager, Architecture
This manager will have direct responsibility for leading a team to make key decisions about the architecture including design and standards for the infrastructure, solutions, platforms, applications, security, and data, as well as system and application integrations to ensure maximum availability, fault tolerance, scalability, performance, security, disaster and cyber resiliency, and overall ease of maintenance, management, and migration including across data centers. This team will help ensure holistic approaches and best designs for solutions and for data flows and data synchronizations between applications.
The Architects on this team are responsible for linking the business mission, strategy, and processes of the organization to its technology strategy, and will document these using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.
The enterprise architects will operate across organizational and computing groups to drive common approaches and expose information assets and processes across the enterprise. Their goal will be to deliver an architecture that supports the most efficient and secure technology environment meeting the company's business needs .
The Architects are responsible for strategy, planning, roadmaps, and working with other organizations on lifecycle planning to ensure the proper infrastructure and architecture exist for hosting Southern Company applications and services . The Architects must remain familiar with industry guidance, frameworks, and best practices. They maintain strategic relationships with key technology vendors, lead efforts toward setting and revising standards, create reference architectures, engineering templates, and design infrastructure and technical solutions.
Architects lead standards teams/committees, create new standards when needed and assist in identifying the time to retire old ones. They contribute to best practice sharing and capacity planning. Architects on this team will collaborate with architects in Infrastructure Services and other Technology Organization departments. They will consult with application support personnel on how to use infrastructure and platforms to their greatest advantage.
The team will offer consulting for conversion, reporting, and analytics to ensure integrity, efficiency, governance, and privacy for solutions . The team will include 13 members consisting of enterprise architects, infrastructure architects, solution architects, security architects, application architects, integration architects, and data architects.
Manager, Middleware & Integration
This manager will be responsible for two teams, one focused on Online integrations and one focused on Batch integrations .
Online :
This manager will have direct responsibility for leading one team that will make key decisions for a range of products and technologies in the middleware and integration space for online systems, such as web services, service-oriented architecture, queuing systems, API integration and development .
The team will be responsible for helping to set and adhere to standards, ensuring established integration patterns are followed, and for assisting with both the development of new integrations and conversion of existing integrations. This team will also assist with procedures to monitor, alert, correct or resolve exceptions and will assist with automations to address both emergency and root cause for operational issues.
This team will possess skills to work with application developers and will be skilled in scripting and coding as well as product configurations to ensure requirements for performance, resiliency, and availability are addressed.
This team will include 17 members consisting of platform and product owners, integration architects, online integration specialists, analysts, and developers designing, building, and supporting integration technologies which could include webservices, APIs, Oracle SOA , Biztalk, Apigee, MQ Series, Kafka, or others.
Batch:
This manager will also have direct responsibility for leading a team to make key decisions about product design and standards for middleware and batch integration. The team will support specific integrations and programs to run critical batch processing for customer information systems and meter data management including billing, readings, payments, service orders, collections and other functionality related to the Customer to Meter systems .
This technical team will work with application developers and subject matter experts and will be skilled in scripting and product configuration to assist with business logic and driving automation. The team will be skilled in managing batch workloads to meet overall key performance indicators and running validation and balancing control points to demonstrate the accuracy and completeness of the workflows.
The team will also work with engineering and architecture counterparts to onboard new technologies and platforms for delivering the business functionalities related to batch middleware and integration.
This workstream will support conversion of legacy batch and implementation of new functionality. This workstream will be responsible for building and maintaining batch processing for lower environments for the project and software development lifecycle.
This team will also assist with procedures to correct or resolve exceptions and will assist with automation to address both emergency and root cause for operational issues. The team will track and remediate product vulnerabilities and will track and satisfy disaster recovery testing requirements for all services . The team will include 16 members consisting of platform and product owners, batch integration specialists, and developers.
These roles are responsible for supporting and implementing key technology decisions including the overall technology architecture for the new CIS/MDM solution and its various software and hardware/infrastructure components. These components include the new Customer Information (CIS) and Meter Data Management (MDM) systems, along with the advanced analytics platform, and the enhanced customer engagement tools for our customers and call center agents.
These roles will collaborate with the other CIS/MDM Technology Managers and other delivery leaders across the CIS/MDM program workstreams and across the Technology organization to make key decisions about the architectural design, integration, data conversion and legacy application remediation strategy as well as the various tools and environments required for the program. These roles must coordinate across the Technology Organization to ensure the new solutions meet Southern Company hardware, software and security standards and will be responsible for managing dependencies across departments.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Manager, Architecture
Responsible for the overall management, direction, and delivery of the Architecture workstream and team.
Responsible for coordinating with all CIS/MDM delivery teams, Infrastructure, Security, and other parts of the Technology Organization . Responsible for managing architecture, technology, and computing environment dependencies with other projects.
Responsible for managing costs, issues, and risks within the Architecture workstream and coordinating and collaborating with senior leaders across the other four CIS/MDM project workstreams to ensure the successful delivery of the Technology workstream.
Serves as a point of escalation for the Architecture team.
Responsible for setting direction for CIS/MDM technology architectures and for the communication and adoption of recommended standards across the organization, including project team and any dependent initiatives.
Manager, Integration and Middleware
Responsible for the overall management, direction, and successful delivery of the Integration and Middleware teams.
Serve as a point of escalation for the Integration and Middleware teams.
Coordinate all development, test and production environment needs in support of overall project timelines.
Provide guidance on integration tools and architecture in alignment with security and technology standards and in complement to Enterprise Foundation's Oracle architecture.
Support design and implementation of non-converted data retention platform managed within the Customer and Meter Data Management workstream.
Serve as a point of escalation for the Integration and Middleware teams.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is desirable or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 or more years of experience in IT (Information Technology) , with at least 5 years of experience leading highly technical teams in infrastructure, architecture, application development, or integration fields.
- Comprehensive knowledge of information technology with an extensive understanding of application development technologies and methodologies.
- Experience establishing and defining technology strategies and roadmaps that meet the strategic and operational objectives of the business.
- Broad knowledge of the utility business functions and an understanding of how the Technology Organization adds value to these organizations.
- Experience in Customer Information Systems, Power Delivery Systems, and/or knowledge of related business processes is desirable.
- Knowledge of DevOps and API design management is desirable.
- Experience in computer tools, development, and architecture related activities
- Experience architecting and designing complex applications is a plus
