What You Will Contribute:
- Manage, support, and motivate assigned test engineers. Set goals and priorities for individuals and group.
- Promote DFM and DFT concepts during early phases of new product development.
Research, develop, create, plan, coordinate, implement, improve, and maintain test systems, process monitoring systems, and data collection systems used in production of BMI product. - Function as an Operations software consultant on any new Meter Tester Development projects, working closely with manufacturing engineers and designated contractors.
- Research and implement new processes to support departmental objectives in quality, cost and overall system's technology.
- Support of all existing testing hardware and software systems for the BMI alliance partner products.
- Support plant operations by troubleshooting day-to-day production problems in Milwaukee, and additionally act as a test engineering resource for all facilities as needed.
- Set technical standards and provide leadership in test design and manufacturing
- Manage, schedule and budget for test engineering resources on projects
- Responsible for the development, design and fabrication of test equipment and fixtures in support of product development and production testing.
- Provide direction for all test and test documentation activities for Badger and our suppliers.
- Develop test strategy (and plans) for Badger products
- Develop and deploy functional test equipment, fixtures and procedures for new and sustaining products.
- Oversee and approve the design of special test equipment, fixtures and test set-ups
- Develop cost and schedule estimates for the development of test equipment
- Support operations in the production and testing of products
- Develop and implement test equipment standards and ensure standards are adhered to
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. Has ability to interface effectively with cross-functional teams and all levels of management.
- Strong problem solving & analytical skills.
- Strong ability to negotiate and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as a major contributor on a team.
- 10+ years' experience in test equipment design and development.
- 5+ years of prior management experience required.
- Bachelor or possibly an advanced degree/certification - in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- Related experience working globally preferred.
- Manage resources to promote efficiency and productivity in the department metrics.
- Experience with typical test instrumentation such as VOMs, DMMs, DAQ systems, etc.
- Experience with using and programming LabView test systems a plus.
- Experience in software development. C# experience a plus.
- Analog, digital communication, RF & wireless fundamentals.
- Experience with high volume test strategies.
- Proven experience with testing microprocessor-based electronic assemblies.
- Understanding of best practices for coding, testing, and documenting.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis methods (such as Gage R&R) and manufacturing performance.
- Strong design and analytics skills
- Ability to define the resources and time to complete projects
- Independently solve problems and implement solutions
- Ability to determine risk and define mitigation methods
- Communicate status and solutions to management
- Ability to generate basic financial/business justifications
- Work is performed in temperature controlled office and production floor environments while sitting or standing. May need to occasionally lift up to 80 lbs. May require occasional kneeling or twisting for installation and set-up of equipment. Work may be in areas where noise from people or machines occurs regularly. Odors may be experienced as is typical from various production processes.
