The Role
Job Summary & Responsibilities:
The Manager of User Acquisition (salaried, full time, regular)Â will oversee planning and execution of digital marketing efforts for the MotorTrend digital platform, including CTV, web, and mobile apps, with a focus on driving click-throughs, engagement, and conversions at free and premium tiers of service. The candidate must be a highly collaborative, strategic, data driven self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment.Â
As Manager, User Acquisition, the ideal candidate will partner with key internal teams to plan acquisition initiatives including paid acquisition, paid media, mobile user acquisition, partnership marketing, and asset creation. They will work closely with creative asset production teams, business intelligence, colleagues on the Marketing team, internal stakeholders, as well as external partners and agencies to define, launch, test, measure, and optimize marketing efforts.Â
The ideal candidate is expected to possess a wide set of skills including CTV, web and mobile marketing strategy and execution, creative direction, rigorous analysis, identification of opportunities for optimization, application and management of optimizations, frequent communication, collaboration with others throughout the organization, presentations, and ongoing self-education. The User Acquisition Manager will possess a strong work ethic and collaborative spirit, with the ability to flex from a big picture perspective to the finest details with ease.Â
Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:Â
- Execute paid user acquisition plans to drive traffic, increase user engagement, and grow conversions for our ad-supported streaming video channels and other digital products and initiatives
- Create best in class creative materials working with both internal and external partners including digital advertising creative, video trailers and/or television commercialsÂ
- Analyze performance of marketing campaigns to regularly identify areas for optimization
- Collaborate with internal graphic design and video ("Creative") teams to develop compelling promotional assets for running ad campaigns on CTV platforms like Samsung TV Plus, Vizio, and our website
- Continuously analyze and optimize campaigns to maximize return on ad spend (ROAS) and ensure cost-effective acquisition of high-quality users
- Manage the promotion of shows, digital products and feature launches through ad placements on our website
- Implement A/B testing strategies to identify the most successful ad formats and designs
- Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as impressions, click-through rates (CTR), and conversions to assess campaign effectiveness in full funnel analysis frameworks
- Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and optimize marketing strategies
- Prepare and present regular reports on campaign performance and user acquisition metrics to stakeholders
- Implement, manage, and analyze UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) codes for tracking the effectiveness of various marketing campaigns across different platforms and channels for optimization opportunities
- Work closely with the business intelligence team to set up and track user acquisition funnels
- Use BI tools and data to optimize user acquisition strategies and improve overall performance
- Strong understanding of advertising platforms and tools, including but not limited to Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and other programmatic ad platforms
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising or a related fieldÂ
- Minimum 5+ years of digital marketing or streaming platform marketing
- Strong understanding of KPIs and business metrics
- Experience with Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST)
- Proven experience in digital user acquisition, digital product and editorial,or performance marketing, preferably in the streaming or entertainment industry
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- A self-starter who takes initiative is mandatory
- Must be able to effectively manage dozens of campaigns simultaneously Â
- Experience working with streaming video platforms and/or OTT (Over-The-Top) services
- Knowledge of video analytics and user behavior tracking tools
- Previous experience managing advertising inventory on websites
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to implement strategic marketing as well as daily marketing execution and optimization
- Excellent communications (oral and written) skillsÂ
- Strong technical aptitude - ability to adapt and pick up new tools and platforms quickly is a must
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view a computer screen
- Position is located in El Segundo, CA office (hybrid, with weekly office attendance mandatory)
- Infrequent travel may be requiredÂ

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in California. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of MotorTrend's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, MotorTrend provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
