JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the strategic development and operation of Southern Company's Windows and Hyper-V based computing systems, products and associated computing infrastructure and services. This role manages the design, build, enhancement, integration, provisioning, support, compliance, audit, and maintenance of the Windows based compute server infrastructure. Working in conjunction with Infrastructure Services, application, end user services, and security Technology leadership teams and third-party technology partners, this leader is responsible for delivering highly reliable, quality computing solutions and services that meet the enterprise's business needs, architectural and performance standard, while appropriately managing risks. The technologies in scope for these responsibilities include Windows based computing server platforms; remote server virtualization; local server storage; Active Directory, and related products and infrastructure. The Windows Systems leader reports to Southern Company's Group Manager, Operating Systems and Integration and is responsible for approximately 14 technology professionals across various geographic locations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Establishes a strategic direction for enterprise computing services technologies that enables the business to meet its strategic and operational objectives.

• Develops and implements a comprehensive computing services technology roadmap for the enterprise that transforms business operations and facilitates competitive differentiation and advantage.

• Drives and manages continuous improvement of computing solutions and services, including delivery, maintenance, provisioning, production support and reliability.

• Partners with business leaders across the organization and works closely with IT business partner account executives to ensure that computing services technology resources and strategies are aligned to current and future needs of the business.

• Applies strong leadership and strategic thinking to a diverse set of opportunities and challenges, serving as a true strategic partner and business enabler.

• Drives innovation and leverages technology to create value.

• Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships and partnerships with senior leadership throughout the enterprise, industry peers and groups, external vendors, and suppliers.

Provides leadership for critical strategic initiatives that improve and optimize the computing infrastructure and fully executes on delivery for business initiatives.

• Delivers computing solutions that are common where possible and custom where it counts.

• Provides cost-effective management, rationalization and simplification of the company's computing services technologies, systems, and projects.

Enforces appropriate IT policies, best practices , standards, processes, systems and technology portfolio and lifecycle management, and program and project management.

• Acts as a student of the business and of technology, anticipating futures needs and directional shifts in both technology and energy industries.

Leads and manages an organization of computing services leaders and technical professionals.

• Continuously monitors and evaluates the operating model and supporting organizational design to identify efficiencies and synergies and ensure efficient resource allocation.

• Creates an overall computing services budget and manages financial performance.

Hires, develops, rewards, and retains a highly qualified and diverse team.

• Creates an environment that fosters accountability, innovation, and engagement at all levels.

• Establishes him/herself as a thought leader and integral part of the Infrastructure Services leadership team.

EDUCATION:

• Degree required; BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Four or more years of experience in IT, leading teams, and supporting infrastructure or applications.

• Comprehensive knowledge of information technology with extensive knowledge of technology environments, including telecommunications, networks, compute, application integration and cybersecurity.

• Experience establishing and defining comprehensive technology strategies and roadmaps that meet the strategic and operational objectives of the business.
