Manager/Senior Manager of Research Strategy & Operations

We are looking for a Manager / Senior Manager of Research Strategy and Operations to join our rapidly growing Research organization. This person will report directly into our Research Strategy and Operations team and will be a core member of the team that drives the Research / Scientific Roadmap at Tempus. They will be responsible for maintaining roadmap planning, managing our portfolio management software suite, and running projects individually as lead liaison for the team.

This candidate will be responsible for understanding the breadth of R&D projects happening at Tempus, and should be able to understand all team interdependencies for our projects, inclusive of Research, Commercial, Medical, and Product & Engineering. They will be responsible for helping the team drive toward successful program milestones and hit aggressive timelines. They will be a trusted partner that helps to unblock research teams and facilitates communication of crucial data regarding research priorities, goals, and progress.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and realize opportunities to optimize strategic decision making and operations for the broader Tempus Research organization
• Manage and continuously improve the Tempus Research roadmap planning and in-house portfolio system built in Coda
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback to build new and improved roadmap views, data visualizations, metric tracking, and stakeholder & science lead roadmap communication channels
• Manage complex, cross-functional execution of key strategic early stage R&D projects and see them through to completion with internal and external stakeholders
• Enable research teams to hit meaningful goals and align with the organizational priorities, along with identifying and resolving bottlenecks
• Track progress against defined strategic objectives and goals; review progress/setbacks frequently with the broader Tempus team

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of operating or product experience including contributing to team projects and a track record of exceeding KPIs or 1+ years of management consulting or other team-based client-facing experience
• Impeccable verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex issues and translate them into concrete action plans
• Bias towards action; must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
• Must be flexible and resilient with the ability to execute on rapidly changing business priorities
• Ability to spin up quickly on topics in Precision Medicine, Genomics, and AI
• Experience utilizing database and collaborative project management software (e.g., Coda.io, Confluence) is a plus, but not required

Preferred:

• 3+ years of operating or product experience including scaling teams, leading projects, and a track record of exceeding KPIs or 3+ years of management consulting or other team-based client-facing experience
• Strong understanding of Healthcare and AI fields
• Previous work as a Project/Program lead for multiple high-level initiatives in Healthcare or AI fields
