Managing Director

American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. (AFBIS, Inc.) is looking for a Managing Director to work out of our Fargo, ND office. This individual will report to the Vice President & General Manager and will focus internally to develop and implement strategic operational plans, solutions and organizational structures for our Information Systems (IS) and Marketing & Training teams. 

This is a unique opportunity for a crop insurance leader with a proven track record of leading transformations that drove efficient and scalable changes enabling the achievement of significant business results.

In this business-critical position, the Managing Director will analyze operational opportunities and develop strategies to position the company beyond its current operational capabilities by:

• Engaging with AFBIS leadership to help set the operational business strategy and business outcome objectives
• Translating the business strategy into process and system capability requirements
• Developing operational budgets to execute strategic goals, meet customer needs and deliver operational performance
• Building, developing and managing business models and leadership teams that can carry out the business strategy
• Driving the pursuit of operational excellence through the development of technical and training solutions to achieve efficient operations
• Leading and motivating a team of talented professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance
• Fostering an environment where employees have the opportunity to be creative, grow and develop skills, and are encouraged to provide feedback on ways to improve the organization
• Partnering with key collaborators across the business to ensure the organization is meeting shareholder, customer and market expectations
• Proactively identifying and assessing areas of risk and driving the team for resolutions

What you will bring to this position:

• 10+ years crop insurance experience including being a Manager of Managers
• Experience in strategic planning, program and project management
• Strong drive for results combined with solid business judgment to ensure the strategy can be executed successfully while risks are managed
• Experience leading organizational transformations and change efforts
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 
• Experience using influence to drive decision making and find resolutions in a collaborative manner
• Demonstrated record of fostering a culture of adaptability, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Creative problem-solving skills including the ability to scope and structure work
