Managing Director, Energy and Utilities (transmission)

West Monroe has an immediate opportunity for a seasoned consulting leader with deep Energy & Utilities experience, to lead and grow our national E&U practice as an expert lead focused on Transmission, and related services around Cyber Security, IT, and Supply Chain background. As a Managing Director/Partner, you will work with our Transmission team building, retaining, and growing the business. This role entails significant responsibility in refining and expanding our transmission offerings, go-to-market strategy, and execution. This includes developing new business, managing the client relationship at the executive levels with existing transmission and new clients, and providing leadership, direction, and oversight to our project teams. What You Will Be Doing: Â
Business DevelopmentÂ
- Cultivate new and existing client development opportunities for the E&U consulting practiceÂ
- Originate and manage client development opportunities and sales cycle with prospective new and existing clientsÂ
- Lead development of proposals, work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for project prospectsÂ
- Attend networking events and actively build and leverage a professional network and affiliate network in the Energy & Utilities community Â
Client DeliveryÂ
- Lead teams serving Energy & Utilities clients while demonstrating executive presence with high level client counterpartsÂ
- Mentor and manage teams on client projects to be able to keep project on scheduleÂ
- Support development of project deliverables and review the work products of the teamÂ
- Manage project risks and issuesÂ
- Act as the client relationship manager with C-level executivesÂ
- Understand the underlying business processes and technologies being used within an organization to be able to make recommendations on how to achieve long-term scalability, reduce operational cost, or better support business processesÂ
Practice DevelopmentÂ
- Collaborate with local office leadership to define the office culture, strategic direction, and actively lead entrepreneurial activities in an office environmentÂ
- Drive the development/enhancement of WMP’s methodologies and approaches to client deliveryÂ
- Coach and lead other consultants and actively participate in the performance management processÂ
- Actively participate in recruiting and retaining top quality consultantsÂ
- Lead, mentor, and grow consultants and actively participate in the career advisory and performance management processÂ
- Participate actively in the recruiting process for additional practice managers and consultantsÂ
- Provide entrepreneurial desire and act with selflessness to give your time, energy, and passion to growing the firm’s culture and our people both inside and outside of office hoursÂ
- Contribute to the development of the local office culture and growthÂ
What else you bring:Â
- Deep knowledge of and direct experience with in high-voltage transmission developmentÂ
- Minimum 12 years of work experience within the Energy & Utilities industry and at least five years of large utility modernization experienceÂ
- A minimum of three years of consulting experience and either a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business OR Equivalent experience requiredÂ
- Practice development and strong leadership skillsÂ
- Strong client development and an active professional network of utility contactsÂ
- Strong program/project management methodology background, including schedule, scope, issue and risk management experience, change management, strategic planning and analysisÂ
- Mature business development, project management, and consulting skills; writing and presentation of business solutionsÂ
- Positive attitude, excellent customer communications skills and the ability to act on own initiative with a strong commitment to customer serviceÂ
- A commitment to inclusion and diversity and openness to new ideas and perspectivesÂ
This role requires the ability to travel, as required based on client and practice demands. Additionally, it requires the ability to be in-person three days a week. Â
Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here. Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.​ Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale.Â
Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of one year of employment.​Â
