Managing Director (LG Technology Ventures)

LG Technology Ventures is the venture capital investment arm of the LG Group. LG Technology Ventures was established in 2018 and its team consists of experienced investors, entrepreneurs, technologists, and industry domain experts. Currently, LG Technology Ventures is managing over $400 million of fund assets and invests in early-stage start-ups in artificial intelligence, mobility, advanced materials, life-sciences, next generation display, mobile, and 5G. We strive to create value to our portfolio companies by helping them develop strategic partnerships with various LG Companies.

We are currently seeking our newest innovator to join our dynamic team as a Managing Director on the LG Technology Ventures Team!

Position Summary:

• Lead the entire investment process from sourcing deals to screening / due diligence / writing memos for investment committee
• Synchronize investment strategy by regularly communicating with business development team and R&D Business Units in Korea
• Proactively manage portfolio companies' post-investment
• Develop thesis on investment opportunities, based on financial and strategic analysis
• Actively network with top-tier VCs and CVC to source premium deals
• Lead due diligence and present deal opportunity on deal committee
• Negotiate and structure investment deals
• Work with external counsel for legal due diligence
• Project a positive image of LG Group. Create synergistic relationship between LG Group and local venture ecosystem

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical, Material Science or Computer Science.
• Master's degree in Engineering or MBA is strongly preferred
• Minimum 8 -12 years of substantive work experience, preferably from a major Consulting firm, Investment Bank or Venture Capital
• Broad network in venture capital and entrepreneur community in the Bay Area Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities independently or as part of a team in tight timeline.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual (Korean/English) is a plus but not required - all candidates are encouraged to apply
