Job Description

This role focuses on the development and delivery of portfolio construction & investment views to support model portfolios, portfolio analytics and thought leadership. This team is the commercial arm of the investment organization; and leads and supports efforts involved in winning new business for Nuveen clients and communicating investment results.



Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct research, analysis and modeling to develop, message and communicate portfolio construction views to internal and external audiences.
     

  • Partner with investment teams on portfolio analysis and reviews; support client reporting.
     

  • Support distribution teams with thorough, detailed, and timely responses. Involvement in training efforts.

  • Drive investment dialogue to understand clients’ objectives and constraints to uncover the nuances that ultimately inform the design or recommendation of the investment solution.
     

  • Understand and discuss investment offerings and explain within the context of portfolios.
     

  • Develop thought leadership and contribute to marketing content (including digital), such as pitchbooks and other collateral.
     

  • Travel to clients and prospects across multiple distribution channels.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of direct experience in client portfolio management, portfolio analysis/strategy or portfolio management in the asset management/ financial services industry.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 7+ years of direct experience in client portfolio management, portfolio analysis/strategy or portfolio management in the asset management/ financial services industry.
    • CFA, FRM, CAIA and/or MBA highly preferred.
    • Solid cross-asset class knowledge of portfolio construction strategy and concepts.
    • Strong quantitative skills to support creation of charts, presentations and other thought leadership reflecting Nuveen’s investment views and the team’s portfolio construction ideas.
    • Demonstrated success working with distribution, consultants and clients.
    • Familiarity with Bloomberg and BarraOne; advanced Excel skills.

    Knowledge/Skills

    • Investment acumen (particularly macro, asset allocation and portfolio construction).
    • Effective and persuasive oral, written and presentation skills: embody humility in interactions and gravitas in presence; ability to simply and effectively describe complex ideas to different audiences.
    • Strong writing abilities; tremendous attention to detail in all forms of communication.
    • Inquisitiveness; confidence to contribute in practically any setting (investment team meetings, client meetings, leadership meetings).
    • Entrepreneurial mindset and able to think strategically and creatively and link broad ideas with detailed execution.
    • Relationship building; understand the interconnectivity of an organization and work collaboratively to achieve success with a strong client service and sales orientation. Skilled at establishing and building effective working relationships with key clients, client firms, consultants, vendor partners and industry groups/influencers.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently and simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
    • A genuine team player that believes in the power of collaborative work and develops relationships with co-workers in a collegial and respectful manner.

    Potential Salary: $165,000.00 USD

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
