Managing Engineer, Mobility

Plano, TX | Hybrid

Toyota Connected is looking for a Managing Engineer to help lead our Mobility group! In this position you will lead a team of remarkable engineers to ideate, build and deliver the next generation of mobility solutions that will improve safety and convenience in all Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

Responsibilities:

• Drive engineering and product strategy, vision, and roadmaps working closely with product owners and customers.
• Regularly dive into architecture, code, deployments, and operations to model technical excellence for the team
• Manage feature backlogs in partnership with the product owners and key stakeholders
• Define and set standards for engineering rigor and help cultivate an engineering driven culture
• Influence best practices in product management, software development and CI/CD methodologies
• Align technical resourcing to product release plans and material plans; drive programs to completion on time and within budget.
• Manage staffing, development, and performance management programs for engineering teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders.
• Lead, develop, train, mentor and provide coaching and guidance to engineering staff
• Facilitate team growth by attracting candidates, interviewing, evaluating and selecting new talent.
• Help bridge gaps between Toyota Connected, Toyota Motors North America, and 3rd party suppliers

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience or total equivalent experience.
• Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring engineering teams with positive results.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and ability to articulate complex ideas without complexity.  
• Grasp of both business operational and technical/engineering concepts backed by problem-solving skills to help drive technical decisions.
• Strong experience in leading and managing microservices based, event-driven architecture with high reliability and scalability to deliver mission-critical solutions.
• Strong experience programming in Java.
• Strong experience in test automation frameworks, optimizing performance and security enabling delivery of robust and maintainable architecture.
• Ability to understand different strategies of data sharing across parties in a secure way
• Production experience in Public Cloud (AWS preferred)
• Ability to work across teams and organizations to resolve issues
• Ability to monitor employee performance and provide feedback for development
• Ability to establish a clear vision and strategy for the team
• Ability to resolve conflicts amongst team members
• Ability to manage team(s) through periods of high stress, demand, or change
• Demonstrates advanced problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• Experience making fiscally responsible decisions
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
• Strong verbal and written communications
• We think the knowledge acquired earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science would be of great value in this position, but if you're smart and have the experience that backs up your abilities, for us, talent trumps degree every time.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with processing, storing and sharing large volumes of data (in the petabytes)
• Experience in leading large diverse teams including business partners/vendors is preferred.
